DOROTHY L. LEVY Funeral services for Dorothy Lee Watson Levy will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 421 S. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Doris R. Bright officiating. Public viewing is LEVY today at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St., Sumter. Interment will follow in the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery. Dorothy Lee Watson Levy, 79, departed her earthly home at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital, Columbia, on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016. Born in Pinewood to the late Leon Watson Sr. and Mozell Kelly Watson, she was the youngest of eight children. At an early age, Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Prior to her death, she was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Sumter, where she was active in several organizations: Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Stewardess Board and the Soup Kitchen. Mrs. Levy was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1954. She later received training as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and worked for NHC National HealthCare. She also provided private sitting services for nursing home residents. She was known for her community service activities and served as an advocate for her community apartment residents. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Levy was preceded in death by her sister, Ada Moses Isom; brothers, Charles Watson Sr., Leon Watson Jr., Alvin Watson Sr., Robert Watson and Julius Watson; as well as a son, Timothy Paul Levy. To cherish the memory of this beautiful matriarch, Dorothy leaves three daughters, LaVerne (James) Jackson of Irmo, Janet (Conroy) Jackson of Columbia, and Jacqueline (Kevin) Curry of Columbia; two sons, Solomon (Darlene) Levy, Macon of Georgia and Simon Peter (Vicky) Levy of Sumter; former daughter-inlaw, Jenefier Levy-Gadson of Sumter; one sister, Susie Mae Witherspoon of Sumter; 12 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. EVELYN W. DUBOSE Evelyn White DuBose, 83, widow of Ernest Carlisle DuBose, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 1, 1932, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Harry Vinson DUBOSE White and Mattie Allen White. She was a lifelong member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, and she was a member of the choir. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and aunt. She is survived by her six grandsons, Craig DuBose of Charleston, Steven DuBose (Hallie) of Alcolu, Daniel Neese (Kristy) of Mount Pleasant, Bradly Neese (Jennifer) of Columbia, Charlie Neese (Christine) of Norfolk, Virginia, and Wesley Neese (Lauren) of Mount Pleasant; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Turner (the Rev. Bennie) of Manning; a niece, Patara Turner of Manning; three great-nephews, Benji, Vinson and Jason Hyman; and two daughtersin-law, Pat DuBose of Manning and Carol DuBose of Lugoff. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years; and two sons, Carlisle DuBose and Harry Joe DuBose. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. David Carlson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. LILLIAN P. SCURRY MANNING — Lillian Palmer Spigner Scurry, 91, widow of Benjamin David Scurry Sr., died Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Tuomey Hospital. Born December 5, 1924, in Alcolu, she was a daughter of the SCURRY late Labon Chappel Spigner and Jessie Dehon Mitchum Spigner. She was a member of Manning First Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Richburg (Wayne) of Brunswick, Georgia; a son, Ben “Buck” Scurry Jr. (Donna) of Manning; two sisters, Jessie McCabe of Alcolu and Margaret Whetsell of Summerton; four grandchildren, Mark Richburg (Ileana) of Hampton, Jamie Scurry of Manning, Craig Richburg (Lorraine) of Brunswick, Georgia, and Frances Scurry Owens (Brad) of Manning; four greatgrandchildren, Brian, Cassidy, Mitchell and Lucie Richburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Dale Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens. GEDDINGS Dorothy Grooms Geddings, 85, wife of the late Archie Lynwood Geddings, passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Palmetto Health Tuomey Born in Sumter was a daughter of the late Furman Sr. and Verlie Rodgers Grooms. Dorothy retired from Madison Industries and was a member of the Pee Dee Indian Tribe. She was also a member of New Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Katherine Barrs, Sharon Geddings Truett (Tim) and Wendi Geddings Till (Steve), all of Sumter; two sons, Archie Ronald Geddings of Sumter and Furman Douglas Geddings of the home; two sisters, Grettis Welch (Charles) and Lillian Sims (Danny), all of Sumter; a brother, Furman Grooms Jr. (Peggy) of Sumter; nine grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. TERRY W. EDWARDS Terry Wayne Edwards, 53, husband of Angela Anderson Edwards, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, from injuries sustained in an accident. Born in Marion, he was a son of Jimmy Edwards and the late Geraldine Floyd Yarborough. Mr. Edwards was self-employed in the tree service business. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; his father of Marion; a brother, Jerry Edwards (Rachel) of Lake City; stepbrothers, Mark Yarborough (Joan), Cale Yarborough (Sylvia) and Eric Yarborough (Frances), all of Sumter; stepsisters, Linda (Bill) Gordley of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Vivian Browder (Rick) of Sumter; sisters-in-law, Patsy Yarborough and Sherry Carmon (Joey); brothers-in-law, Michael and Robbie Anderson; and his father-in-law, Bobby Anderson, all of Sumter; a special niece, Nicole DeForest; 15 nieces and nephews; and 28 great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Edwards; a stepfather, Albert Yarborough; and a stepbrother, Wayne Yarborough. SARAH P. RICHBURG Sarah P. Richburg was a daughter of the late Oliver and Sarah Postell Peoples. She was born Jan. 27, 1924, in Silver. She attended the public schools in Clarendon County. Sarah accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong, devoted member if Friendship AME Church where she served in many capacities such as being a member of the Senior Choir, Steward Board, Lay Organization, Usher Board, Missionary Society, Pulpit Aid, Daughters of Sarah and the Flower Guild that was established in her honor under the umbrella of the Floral Club. She joined in holy matrimony on April 5, 1942, to the late Willie “Bill” Richburg of Clarendon County. God richly blessed this union with two daughters and two sons. She leaves to cherish her memories; one son, Horace (Renee) Richburg; one daughter, Barbara Ann Richburg, all of Sumter; two sisters-inlaw, Plummie Parson of Mount Vernon, New York, and Mildred Washington of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Dwayne Aloysious (Tammara) Richburg of Silver Spring, Maryland, Derek Marshall Richburg of Manhattan, New York, Maurice Lendel Richburg of Suitland, Maryland, and Nathaniel (Desi) Helm of Charlotte, North Carolina; granddaughters, Theresa Burroughs of New Mildford, Connecticut, Robyn India (Jamar) Richburg-Tyler of Capital Heights, Maryland, and Da-

MABEL A. SEXTON MANNING — Mabel Amtower Sexton left the loving arms of her family and went into the arms of her Savior on Friday, Feb.12, 2016. She was born on Dec. 30, 1924, to William and Mae Amtower. She was married in May of 1947 to Jack Allen Sexton. Granny, as she was lovingly called by all, took care of everyone when she was able and was very active in her church. When she needed help, she had two marvelous daughters-in-law, Debra and Janet, who gave her excellent care. She is survived by her husband, Jack Allen Sexton; a daughter, Jackie Edwards (Gary); three sons, Ken Sexton (Janet), Mickey Sexton (Debra) and Stanley Sexton; a sister, Virginia Thorne (Ernest); seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; seven brothers, Charlie, George, Arnold, Dewey, Arthur, Frank and Harold; two grandsons, Martin and Greg Edwards; and a great-grandson, John Henry Horton IV. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Haven Church of the Brethren in Sparta, North Carolina, with Pastor Bobby Reed and Pastor Gary Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
