Mineola student wins Earth Day Butterfly art contest
Mineola School District congratulates Jackson Avenue School fourth grader Dishita Chilan on winning the Town of North Hemp- stead Earth Day Butterfly Contest.
Dishita’s butterfly art was one of 25 winners selected from over 2,500 entries. The has performed as a soloist with several orchestras as winner of their concerto competitions. Carolyn is a two-time National Young Arts Classical Music award winner and one of four flutists selected nationwide to serve as coprincipal flute for Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYOUSA) European Concert Tour. winners were recognized and their art displayed at the annual Town of North Hempstead Spring Festival at Clark Botanic Garden on May 6.

In addition, Carolyn has taken rigorous coursework and AP classes achieving a GPA of 4.226. She will be attending Harvard University in the fall.
The district is very proud of Carolyn and wishes her continued success in all her endeavors.
