When Mike Alhadeff applied to go on TIE, he wanted to shake things up a bit. See new places, meet new people, face new challenges. And, of course, he wanted to make a difference. He just didn’t know that he would be such an inspiration for everyone involved in the placement. Mike arrived in Recife in February 2015 with one challenge: to raise the profile of a charity called Lar Rejane Marques and attract more sponsors to support their cause. Lar Rejane Marques serves as a home for children with disabilities who have been abandoned or abused by their family. And their mission is to help develop these children, while rehabilitating their families or finding them a new one. On the first day of the project, so many stories were shared and Mike understood this wasn’t a simple task. With his team of students from the experimental agency Inata, he started what would be a month to be remembered. If you want to be inspired by Mike’s incredible story, grab a cup of tea and have a read. You’ll be glad you did.
