The chill is now well and truly upon us and I hope you have all enjoyed the great Christmas and Summer trading periods we had in New Zealand since our last magazine. It has again been a very fast-paced start to the year, with new content and lots of change and promotional activity in the market place. There has been a tremendous increase in gift card and gaming sales in the past six to twelve months and these are categories that every retailer needs to embrace and promote to take advantage of the opportunities. I would also like to apologise to any of our retailers who were targeted or victimised by scammers in the last 12 months. Unfortunately, bad people will always do bad things and others get caught up in their illegal activities.

MUSIC TO YOUR EARS Digital music streaming has officially taken over and now accounts for two thirds of all music sales in New Zealand.
WHAT IS IT?
Digital music streaming has allowed subscribers to access a world of music but at a fraction of the cost of downloading or owning songs. It also doesn’t consume their device’s storage space.
