It’s easy for kids to get into a routine of putting head to pillow late and keeping it there even later. It’s not so easy — for parents TIP OF THE WEEK or students — to get back on track for the school year. Start by setting the new normal wake time and plan to reach it by moving the alarm clock back 30 minutes every other day for a two week period. Getting that wake time set eventually shifts bedtime earlier, allowing a full nights rest. In the two hours before bedtime, focus on relaxing in dark places with no electronic use and no caffeine — this encourages falling asleep easier. (Cleveland Clinic)
