Welcome to Starlight!

We’re so glad you’re here tonight as Disney’s Frozen transforms our stage into a sparkling, snow-dusted world full of music, magic, and the power of love.

This Broadway hit has captured hearts around the globe—but there’s something extra special about seeing it under the stars in Kansas City. Whether you’ve had “Let It Go” on repeat since the movie first came out or you’re experiencing Frozen for the very first time, tonight’s performance is a celebration of sisterhood, bravery, and being true to yourself.

One of my favorite things about this production? Watching these iconic characters come to life with incredible stagecraft, heart-filled performances—and a little theatrical wizardry. And we’re especially proud to feature some young Kansas City talent this week in the roles of Young Anna and Young Elsa. It’s always such a thrill to see local artists shine on this stage and know we’re helping to inspire the next generation of performers (and maybe even a few future Starlight stars!).

Gathering together for live theatre matters. It reminds us that shared experiences still have power—that stories can connect us, move us, and remind us of what we have in common. The joy, the laughter, the awe… it’s not just entertainment—it’s something deeper. Something we need.

At Starlight, we believe in the power to bring people together—across generations, backgrounds, and experiences. Nights like this don’t just happen because of the amazing teams onstage and backstage. They happen because of you. Your support helps keep this Kansas City tradition strong and ensures that the magic of live arts continues for years to come.

And if your family loves Frozen, keep an eye out for our new Performances for Young Audiences series—created just last year to bring more theatre to young people all year long, even in the winter months. These shows are designed to spark imagination and create unforgettable first theatre experiences.

So—bundle up, get cozy, and get ready for a night full of heart, wonder, and a little bit of snowflake sparkle.

Thank you for being here, and enjoy the show!

If summer fun takes an unexpected turn, it’s good to know the area’s most trusted emergency care is always nearby. ONE OF A KIND CRAFTSMANSHIP

Starlight Theatre’s legacy began on June 3, 1950, with the premiere of Thrills of a Century, a vibrant historical pageant celebrating Kansas City’s centennial.

Thousands of attendees came together nightly for the production, which featured hundreds of local citizens in its cast. The overwhelming success of the event highlighted the city’s appetite for a dedicated performing arts venue, leading to the establishment of the notfor-profit Starlight Theatre Association of Kansas City, Inc., which has upheld this legacy for seven and a half decades.

Starlight is a gift to Kansas City, that’s what it is. We have this lovely, lovely theatre that anyone can choose to come out to, to see professional live entertainment. I just say thank you. I’m so glad it’s here.

To kick off the summer season, Starlight partnered with Community Builders of Kansas City—our city’s largest urban core developer—for the sixth consecutive year to present a free outdoor movie night under the stars.

A not-for-profit community development corporation, CBKC has invested more than $300 million in urban renewal since 1991, working directly with neighborhoods to build relationships, strengthen families, and act as a convener and resource for services. Their ongoing commitment to community transformation made them the perfect partner for this special event, which welcomed guests to Starlight on Friday, June 13 for a screening of Trolls Band Together

Community Movie Night is an Arts Bridge activation, part of Uniquely KC, Starlight’s first capital campaign in over 20 years aimed at developing new live arts audiences and expanding access to the arts.
