1.4. Contact 02. Situation Update Due to the escalation of conflict in the Eastern province, displacements of persons reached maximum numbers. Families from Vavuativu, Pattiapalai, Vellavely, Vaharai, etc have been displaced mostly in camps in the district of Batticaloa A detailed report will be provided on completion of the project. Food and Nutrition Initially food items were distributed for two weeks. But since there is no income sources, supply of food items both basic and complementary should be continued. Specific emphasis must be made regarding the requirements of food items for children. Water Supply & Sanitation The eastern part of the country is experiencing a dry period during the month of July to October resulting shortage of drinking water. Wells are dried in resettled areas without any other sources of supply of drinking water. The present supply arrangement is not sufficient to meet the water requirements. Health In order to provide effective health services, health institutions must function. Immediate requirements such as repairs to the buildings provisions of equipments have been identified. 03.
