an enchanting hidden gem which lies in the heart of Sussex, nestled within The Hyde Estate. The Wild Garden is a tranquil and private space, a truly unique wedding venue that can be exclusively yours.

Imagine hosting your one-of-a-kind celebration surrounded by ancient woodland, not one but two beautiful lakes and an abundance of meticulously cared for flora and fauna that serves as your backdrop. To maintain the beauty of the setting and unique memories of such a special occasion for those who bring their loved ones here, we only host a limited number of events each year.

As a family who have celebrated their own weddings within these majestic surroundings, we know how exceptional The Hyde Estate is and look forward to inviting you to discover the garden for yourself.

History of the Estate

Today there are four generations of the family living here. Their time at Handcross Park began in the 1870s and they added The Hyde to the estate in 1924. Colonel and Mrs Warren then set about carefully planning and constructing the beautiful gardens including The Wild Garden that you see today.

Generations later the current owner’s children both dreamt of hosting their wedding receptions in the gloriously beautiful Wild Garden and so its use as a wedding venue began.

The Wild Garden continues to be a space surrounded by and filled with love which the family want to share with a select number of couples each year.

It is too magical to keep to ourselves!

The Warren family have loved and run the 850 acre Hyde Estate including the woodland, lakes and farm for almost 100 years.

What to expect

Following your blessing, or upon arrival if you are hosting your ceremony elsewhere, guests will soak up the natural beauty of the lakes, wild garden and woodland whilst sipping on refreshing drinks and indulging in delicious canapés. This can be the perfect opportunity for you newlyweds to explore the grounds with your photographer to capture the most romantic wedding portraits.

When you have completed your group photographs and couple portraits, guests are called to find their seats for your wedding breakfast. You have the flexibility to create your dream wedding in The Wild Garden, from boho luxury to country chic, elegant glamour to festival fun, your choice of structure and decor is up to you. Weather permitting, the sides of your chosen marquee or tipi can be rolled up to allow you to take in the stunning panoramic views throughout our secluded setting.

As darkness falls and the partying begins your choice of lighting can add to the ambience with romantic festoon or fairy light garlands, bright and colourful uplighters or spotlights highlighting our wild gardens and majestic trees. Contact our team now to discuss your wedding ideas.

On the wedding day, guests will wind their way along our private drive surrounded by ancient woodland before arriving at the shores of the lake to witness your exchange of vows.

The exceptionally beautiful lakeside shore is the most idyllic and truly unique spot to exchange your vows in front of your gathered friends and family. Surrounded by the magical wild garden with dreamy woodland and lake views.

Please note: The Wild Garden does not hold a licence for legal civil marriage ceremonies but we can recommend a selection of Churches and licensed buildings nearby to suit your needs.

Your Exclusive Use Wild Garden

Sitting within the privacy of the Hyde Estate your exclusive hire of the

magnificent Wild Garden includes:

• Exclusive use rental of The Wild Garden including all its picturesque grounds, lakes and woodland from 9am the day prior to the wedding until 5pm the day after your wedding.

• Your choice of marquee/ tipi from our preferred expert suppliers

• Freedom to design your dream wedding with dry hire of our stunning Wild Garden

• Ability to create your perfect wedding menu through your choice of preferred caterer

• Flexibility to set up the day before your wedding

• Take down/ clearance the day after your wedding

• Adequate parking

Frequently asked questions

WHERE IS THE HYDE ESTATE LOCATED?

The Hyde Estate is a secluded and private estate in West Sussex. We are ideally located just 45 minutes by train from central London, 20 minutes by car from Brighton and 15 from Gatwick Airport.

CAN WE HAVE FIREWORKS AT THE HYDE ESTATE?

To maintain the glorious nature of our venue we do not allow any fireworks or naked flames. ARE

WE ALLOWED TO BRING IN OUR OWN CATERERS?

For bookings at The Hyde Estate we ask couples to select their wedding caterer from our list of preferred suppliers. These caterers have all worked at The Hyde Estate, know how the venue works, our location, logistics and exactly what equipment will be required which all make your wedding planning and ultimately the day itself run smoothly.

CAN WE BRING OUR OWN WINE?

Yes, and we do not charge corkage on drinks you supply yourself. Please note that all recycling and rubbish must be removed the next day.

WHAT TIME DOES THE MUSIC HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF?

We currently allow music until no later than midnight with all guests off site by 1am.

CAN WE BRING OUR PETS TO THE VENUE?

Of course! We welcome your pets for unique photo opportunities around the Wild Garden. We understand that your pets are a big part of your family but ask that they are taken home by whoever is looking after them following photos and leave nothing behind them please!

WHAT TIME DO YOU ALLOW DELIVERIES OR ACCESS TO THE VENUE?

From 09:00 the morning before your event allowing you a full day set up! We will meet you to arrange a handover and provide you with a keycode to allow you access until 17:00 the day after your event.

Next steps and booking

• We ask for a £1000 security deposit to book the date and in the event of any damage done to the premises by the hosts, contractors or their guests. This will be returned 2 weeks after the event less any deductions.

• £2,300 plus VAT is taken twelve months before your wedding, with the final balance of £2,300 plus VAT due no later than four calendar months before your wedding.

• Our Hyde Estate team will provide a friendly expert contact in the lead up to your event to help guide you through choosing suppliers and anything you will need. They will also be on site to welcome you and check in during set up and are available and contactable by telephone in the event of any issues over the three day period.

• Our team will be on site by midnight of your wedding date to ensure music has been turned off and all guests have left by 01.00am.
