THE BONDOOLA HEALER

Meet Marie Zonruiter, The Bondoola Healer.

Marie has recently returned her healing business to its home roots in Bondoola allowing her to step into her creative flow even more by providing a private, peaceful sanctuary for her clients.

When entering my vortex people can expect to step in tranquil surrounds, feel deeply nurtured, held and seen. What I offer is an escape from the ordinary creating space for change within each client. With my client’s wellbeing being the utmost importance, clients are offered integration time after a treatment by sitting in my gardens, sipping tea before heading back to their everyday” Marie says.

Disconnection, the suffering of endometriosis and a trauma story of being the ‘too much girl’ is what bought Marie to this powerful work. “ I needed to heal. I needed tribe. I needed to find my gifts.”

05

In the midst of all of this she found the powerful work of Tanishka Tantrica, The Moon Woman. Marie was blessed with the opportunity to do volunteer work in exchange for her teachings and from here, her evolution commenced; first with Red Tent Women’s Circles, then Reiki and Healing Massage.

This path led her to learn more from Tanishka and was initiated into the Blood Rites . These are ceremonies to honour a girl’s first bleed, the birthing mother and menopause. Ceremonies are where Marie’s strongest passion lays; honouring the initiating moments of life that have been tarnished in the modern world.

In the past three years Womb Hara and Fertility Massage, Peri Steam Hydrotherapy and Breathwork have been added to Marie’s repertoire of healing modalities. Through Womb Hara, Massage for Fertility and Menstrual Health and Peri SteamHydrotherapy clients can regulate menstrual issues and create a healthier cycle, enhance conception, heal their womb, repair prolapse. Men can also use Peri Steam Hydrotherapy to increase prostate health, assist erectile dysfunction, aid libido and more.

Women can opt to work with Marie from pre-conception through to post partum with Fertility Massage / peri Steam Hydrotherapy, Pregnancy Massage and Postpartum Massage. Also on offer are Mother Blessing Ceremonies and Postpartum Closing of the Bones Ceremonies.

Marie creates a safe space to allow intimate moments of vulnerability - where people are able to strip off the mask and let their feelings flow. She is also passionate about bringing people back to themselves and empowering them to heal, “ultimately they are their own healer, I am just on conduit.”

A lot of her work has focused on regulating and calming the nervous system as a gateway to healing and self connection. “The world is so stressed and disconnected – we must be the change we seek.”

To book a session with Marie, head to her website www.thebondoolahealer.com.au or via her direct booking link https://bookmeinwithbondoulahealings.as.me/ You can also text or call 0428 777 235

Age No Barrier When it Comes to Cycling

Cycling Without Age is a non-profit organisation in our community who help our elderly population engage in the community with their trishaw rides. The project came to Yeppoon in 2020 and is now running actively at various locations throughout the coast giving elderly and mobility-challenged residents the opportunity to partake in a ride along one of our beautiful coastal pathways.

I had the pleasure of witnessing the inaugural ride in Emu Park earlier this month and it was such an amazing experience to be part of. The Emu Park rides go from the Surf Lifesaving Club up to the Singing Ship with stops along the Anzac Memorial path to take in the sights and scenery. At the completion of the ride, riders can then socialise over a cuppa and a snack at each location while taking in the scenery. In Emu Park, this was at The Honey Bee Collective, located at the Surf Lifesaving Club

During the morning I had the opportunity to test out a trishaw ride myself and volunteer rider Lyal was wellversed on the history behind the ANZAC

09

Memorial path I also caught up with Sheila who also volunteers her time who talked me through the whole process of how the rides work. Chatting with some of the community members from Sunset Ridge who had been riding for the morning Wal and Joan gave me a glimpse at the immense joy that this wonderful organisation brings to the ride recipients

under the guidance of Mary O’Donnell who had seen Cycling Without Age online and decided that it needed to be brought here to the coast.

New volunteers are always welcome to join the team. If you are looking for a very rewarding way to give back to the community, then I urge you to get in touch with Mary mary.odonnell@cyclingwithoutage.org.au

Trishaw rides can be booked through the online expression of interest form

There is a scout bike who rides ahead of the trishaws to warn other path users of the trishaws that are coming behind. On this day, Sheila’s daughter was performing this duty with a huge smile on her face. It was lovely to see the interaction between the young

Spending this time with the Cycling Without Age group was such a wonderful opportunity to see the true spirit of community alive and well in our town. It warmed my heart and brought a real smile to my face seeing the faces of the riders light up while they were being chauffeured seeing the beautiful local sights

Funding to purchase the trishaws was originally received through a grant from the local Iwasaki Foundation A team of amazing volunteers help the program to operate

A Day to Connect

Connect is a full day of nourishing experiences and beautiful connections with other women all there for the same reasons

It is an opportunity to indulge in some self care and take the time to purely focus on yourself without being pulled in a million different directions. It is a safe space for you to connect back to self, relax, recharge and reset.

Connect is a space where you get to honour yourself and nurture yourself while connecting with like minded women; creating that beautiful sisterhood connection and community.

Connect really came a love from a thought of wouldn't it be cool if I could create a space where women felt space to let their guard down, connect back to themselves and feel the love and support of their fellow sisters.

A space were you are accepted just the way you are and you can feel loved for being you. A beautiful invitation to stop focusing on all the to dos and people you needed to support and just support YOU.

I get so lit up being able to create these spaces and see the women come together complete strangers and leave with a bond and absolute respect for each other. So amazing and exciting.

Getting Ready for the Year Ahead

Wow, here we are in 2023 already! I hope you all survived the ‘silly season ’ with your sense of humour intact and that you shared lots of laughter, hugs and happiness with your nearest and dearest.

It is well known within my family that I refuse to discuss plans for Christmas until 1st December drives my kids crazy, but it works for me!! I also refuse to have a plastic tree at my place and nearly always manage to kill off the live one from the previous year before it can be reused, so we ’ ve had some innovative variations on tree shaped décor over the years, including a memorable one made from a stack of books

I have a favourite little poem which always reminds me and helps me focus on what I want from life and what goals I’d like to set for myself. It’s called Living the Good Life by William Ellery Channing. I’ll share a little quote from it here, due to copyright you’ll have to do your own googling if you want to read it in full

“To live content with small means, to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy not respectable…..”

This year it was a collection of beautiful bare branches the wind blew out of a big tree in our garden… dusted off and “artfully” arranged in a vase full of sand and decorated accordingly The Christmas tree at Grandma’s is always a point of discussion among the grandkids and Christmas and New Year preparations at our place are intense, a little chaotic, but always filled with lots of fun!

As you begin your plans for 2023, remember what are the important things in your world and take time to enjoy the little things. If you ’ re planning to celebrate a special occasion, I’d love to chat with you about your ideas anytime,

Happy New Year Leanne

And now as we begin the New Year, hopefully there will be time to assess what is ahead of us and begin making plans, setting goals and marking those calendars with all the important family events and special dates to remember.

Relaxation is Important for Our Body

Here’s why:

I don’t know about you, but January always feels like I am still carrying an end of year exhaustion hangover Life is so busy, we can get caught up in the busyness and forget to take time to stop, rest and reset

When we get stuck in the busyness and stress of life our bodies fight, flight, freeze response kicks in, often unnoticed. This built-in defence mechanism is fabulous when we REALLY need it, but when it’s activated long-term due to day-to-day life it isn’t great for our physical, mental or emotional health.

When we are in fight/flight/freeze, our body moves its resources to defend ourselves.

So, what does this mean? It means our bodies resources are diverted away from things like digestion (think weight gain/loss, belly and bowl problems,) reproductive system (conception), you can’t think as

clearly, feeling on edge (hello anxiety), high blood pressure, increased feelings of fear, and the inability to relax In the long-term this can lead to all sort of health complication The good news is there are some simple things you can do to activate your relaxation response today:

Deep breathing

Visualise peaceful images

Walk-in nature Meditate Exercise

Spend time with friends and family (who make you feel happy and relaxed )

If you are struggling to relax and reset, reach out for help, we all need help from time to time, and that’s okay.

14

Say ‘No’ to New Year’s Resolutions

You may ask why you would say ‘ no ’ to New Year’s resolutions. It’s because flexibility is key in life. Nothing stays the same and everything is in flux all the time.

However, what you can do, is a thorough review of the past year and see where the gaps have been. This year you can put some time into readjusting from that. Hindsight is twentytwenty!

This isn’t a passive…let me have moment or two to mull this over. This is more serious. You need to make time to write out some questions about certain aspects of your life and how you felt about it.

What was successful ? What can improve?

From there you can write some words to champion you on in 2023. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Give yourself some tension to work towards but don’t make it unachievable.

You can consider how you used time.

What were time wasters Where was time well spent? How much of your time did you give to others? How much did you do what makes you happy?

I have a yearly review that I’ve done every year for twelve years I wouldn’t start the year without it! Please feel free to contact me on my Facebook page if you would like more details!

January's Moon Musings

We Kick start this years Lunar cycle with a Full Moon in Cancer on January 7th at 9:07am AEST

The Moon is at home here in the water sign of Cancer, Which may bring more sensitivity to our emotional realm.

Cancer rules our Home, family, our Roots and ancestors, She is known as the ‘Mother’. These areas will be in focus during this time so it is important to create space to allow your emotions to flow and feel what comes through

While the Sun is shining in the Earth Sign of Capricorn which rules our Public life, career and reputation in the world, the polarity of the Moon in Cancer call us to create balance between the inner and outer worlds

Have you created a feeling of safety within yourself and the home?

Are you allowing your fear of being seen rule your actions?

Where do you need to soften and become more open and receptive?

Full moons are a time of culminations, Shedding and letting go of what is no longer needed. This a time to release old fears and insecurity, especially around feeling seen and feeling worthy.

The end of January brings us a New Moon in the Air sign of Aquarius on January 22nd at 6:53am

The new moon has the Sun and the moon holding hands together so this brings a double Aquarius energy to us!

Aquarius is the rebel of the zodiac They desire freedom, change and anything unconventional!

The New moon is a time of new beginnings, setting intentions and planting the seeds of the future (very fitting for Aquarius).

While the Moon rules our emotions, Aquarius is not so comfortable there so you may be feeling a little detached from your emotions at this time. That can also be a good thing as it allows us the opportunity to become the observer and pull out a little to see things from a new perspective

17

This Lunation also marks the end of the retrograde cycle for Mercury, Mars and Uranus!!

These retrograde energies have been slowing things down a little and may have felt like you just couldn’t gain the momentum you were after, but now things should start to flow in a more forward direction for a while.

Time to get ready for the new! Aquarius is a futurist and loves to think outside the box and challenge the status quo so this is a great time to start planning your next move….. Change could be coming!

Looking after Mum: “Me-Time”

is

Many Mums are awesome at looking after their children – nurturing, feeding, loving, playing, educating, disciplining and laughing

Many of those Mums are also great at looking after their partners – again, loving, caring & laughing Why then, when we are the ‘experts’ at looking after others, do we often do such a poor job of looking after ourselves?

This is a concern, on a few levels

If we keep ‘giving’, without replenishing ourselves, we reach a stage of ‘emptiness’ As a Parenting Consultant for 18 years, I’ve seen many women who love the early years of parenthood, and then they start to look tired and worn out, which can lead to resentment.

Now we all know parenting can be both fulfilling and exhausting. A Mum who looks after herself, will be able to more easily cope with the various things which can happen in a day with youngsters – drawing on the walls, cutting their sisters hair, and vegemite hugs!

The second concern with not looking after yourself as Mums, is the modelling aspect. As we know, children model both our positive, and our less desirable traits. If you are tired, constantly giving, and never doing anything for yourself, this is the image you are presenting to your children. To your female children you are saying, (through your actions): ‘When you grow up honey, you can be tired and run-down like this’. And, to

19
This month we welcome Sonja Preston from Dunstan Baby Language as a regular columnist. Sonja Preston is a Parenting Consultant with 23 years experience She has worked as a classroom teacher, a trainer at Macquarie Uni, a Parenting consultant at the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre, a Family support worker at Save the Children and currently the only Australian National Trainer of Dunstan Baby Language.

your male children, you are saying: ‘When you grow up, find someone like me, who’ll do everything for you ’ Is this the message you want to convey?

Wouldn’t it be great, to model for them – strength & fulfilment, love & receiving, nurturing others & self-care – isn’t that what you really want for your children?

So, how do we find ‘Me-Time’ when there’s washing to hang out, a toddler who wants you to paint, and what’s for dinner?

The answer lies in the amazing way in which Mums are able to organise and multi-task every day! Think of what you do when you go out with a young baby – nappies, wipes, change of clothes, toys, books, food etc We are capable organisers – so let’s utilise that strength!

Open your diaries right now, and pick a time this week, and write in “Me-Time” – ideally a 2 - 3 hr spot. I can already hear some of you giving me excuses why it’s not possible. However, if it were an appointment for the dentist or Canteen duty, you would do what you needed to do, to keep the appointment. You can do this!

Many of you have sisters, friends and neighbours who have children similar ages to yours Build those friendships, by having them over for play dates, at your home, or theirs. Once you know and trust them well enough, that’s when the magic of “Me-Time” begins the two of you agree that (eg) Tuesdays 9am -12 noon is “Me-Time”. One Tuesday you drop your children off to their place, knowing they will be well cared for. You now have 3 hours just for you – a walk, a bubble bath, painting your nails or to read a book and drink a whole cup of hot tea! Imagine how refreshed you would feel, and how you would greet your children (and partner) once again with a big smile Next week, you reciprocate for your friend How good would it be to have that time regularly? – value yourself enough to make this happen!

One suggested ‘rule’ is that in “Me-Time” there is no housework to be done! – this is about nurturing yourself… You and your children deserve that!

Happy Parenting!
