with Trichologist & Hair Stylist Ebuni Ajiduah

What is a trichologist?

A trichologist is a hair and scalp specialist Trichologist are trained to identify and treat minor ailments and hair loss issues Trichologists work with hair stylists, doctors, dermatologists and cosmetic practitioners to help clients solve hair issues I specialise in Afro hair as those with Afro hair are most often misdiagnosed or not given appropriate care plans

Why is it difficult to suggest a “one size fits all” hair care routine or regime that works for everyone?

The treatments provided rely heavily on the diagnoses If you go to a hospital with a problem, the doctors will identify the problem and then send you to the correct place for treatment The same applies to hair The reason for hair loss might be a medical condition, nutrition, stress or lifestyle habits therefore rather than having a generic treatment or solution for everyone the best treatment plan for that individual should be made. There is no one size fits all There might be a standard treatment for a particular condition but that treatment depends first on finding the diagnosis

Why did you start your business?

I previously worked in salons and saw clients with hair loss but I didn’t have the tools to help them They seemed to be doing every thing right, but still were experiencing hair loss That led me to become a trichologist and open up my own space. At Untype Your Hair, we offer a new way to do Afro hair and aim to become the first global chain of trichology infused hair salons for Afro textured hair
