This past summer, while many were down the shore or wasting time avoiding summer reading (or both), a group of Haverford students boarded a plane for Cambodia. The nearly eighteen-hour flight and two-week trip was part of Haverford’s yearly travel-study programs “to
enhance the learning that takes place in the classroom by integrating authentic travel experiences into specified areas of the curriculum,” according to the Global Studies webpage. History teacher Mr. Brian Long said, “My goals going into the trip were centered
on having an experience for the students where language immersion was not the priority... the priority was centered on cultural immersion and finding a location that sort of fit with the confluence of religious significance that’s different than what we’re used to, modern historical significance and

Soccer triumphs in Maryland
Mr. Nostrant will leave Haverford after his 28th year of coaching and 21st year as athletic director (AD). Over this transition year, he will hand off the AD gauntlet to Mr. Mike Murphy and that of head lacrosse coach to Mr. Brendan Dawson. Coach Nostrant began working at Haverford in 1991. He worked as a fourth grade teacher for seven years before becoming AD. “We were a doormat here in the ’90s,” he said. “We hadn’t won a football game since
