NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
We all concede the The Gwydir News is a small publication - both in terms of content and by way of personnel. Given the paper is run solely by one person on a part-time basis, when the need arises for a break to be taken, there is equally a need to temporarily pause the publication.
Whilst in the past, particularly when the Warialda Standard and the Bingara Advocate were published, a break coincided with the festive period between December and January, this year, a break will be taken during late July to early August.

As such, The Gwydir News will not be published for the next three weeks, from 20 July to 3 August. Although there will be an absence of news during this time, there will continue to be a weekly publication of the popular “What’s on” pages, to esnure residents and visitors are aware of events in and around the Gwydir Shire.
If you would like to have your event included in the “What’s On” pages, please email gmc@gwydir.nsw.gov.au with details: what, where, when, and who. Any phone enquiries should be made through the Gwydir Shire Council on 6724 2000.

when the network is disrupted, how Telcos can assist customers, and what communities can do to decrease potential impacts.
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Recovery Support Officers, Sandy McNaughton and Kevin Mack, are using the opportunity to bring local support services together with communication stakeholders to ensure that people living in smaller, remote communities receive the most up-to-date information and access to support services.
Rural support services in attendance will include the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP), HeathWise and the Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS). Residents will have the opportunity for individual discussions with telcos and/or support services so that they can receive the most relevant information for their individual situation.
The Roadshow will kick off in Bingara on Monday 24th July, followed by Narrabri on the 25th and Rowena on the 26th, before Moree on the 27th and Mungindi on the 28th July. All enquiries to Sandy McNaughton, Recovery Support Officer, National Emergency Management Agency on mobile: 0408 499 306.
