Warialda Show Society Secretary Cr Dave Coulton said the weekend was helped along with weather you couldn’t have asked for. “The weekend was very well received, with great crowds. The entertainment kicked off on Friday night with Travis Collins,” he said. Feedback from show-goers indicated that it was one of the best shows ever. On display throughout were demonstrations from Aussie FMX Motorbikes, sand sculpting from Steve Machell, Walter’s Whip Cracking, pet shows, billy boiling and a very popular demolition derby. The Show was officially opened by the Hon Mark Coulton MP, after which several special presentations were made. Mr Col James was made a life member and certificates were presented to Doug Barnett, John McDonald and Cr John Coulton, for service of 50 years or over to the Committee. The title of 2021 Warialda Showgirl was awarded to Clare Mead, with the junior Junior Showgirl presented to Abbie Kent. “Although Prime Cattle numbers were down, and that may be attributed to the drought, the quality was exceptional. The winners of the Prime Cattle were Dave and Mel Landers, having the Grand Champion Prime Beef of the Show,” said Cr Coulton. “The Kent family from Delungra’s Kurrajong supported
the wool section very well.” “Grand Champion Rider of the Show was Rosie Block, and Grand Champion Hack of the Show was the Young family of Moree. Show Jumping and sporting events were also well supported.” Both Federal and State Government support, including funding from FRRR, Primary Health Network (PRN), COVID-19 stimulus grants all went towards attracting entertainment and putting on the event. We wouldn't have been able to do it without this support. “A big thank you goes to the committee as a whole, for the work they put in. To Don Stevenson, President of the Show Society. To all the people that worked hard to run each section, and the people of Warialda and surrounds for coming and supporting the event.” "A special mention to Narissa and Ardina Jackson who took on the job of running the Art Section which was just brilliant, absolutely brilliant. " “I just think it was a great show and the town supported us, so thank you,” said Cr Coulton.
