The thought of time and financial freedom seems like a pipe dream to many, but what if you could spend your days building your dreams and contributing towards causes you find important versus working a job that will not pay what you’re worth? Working a job won’t give you the freedom that entrepreneurship will.

Within the vegan community you’ll find skills galore. We have vegan entrepreneurs aka veganpreneurs making moves in all areas. You’ll see dating sites to help you find your plant eating counterpart, cruelty free clothes, graphic designers, artists, nonprofit organizations, vegan coaches, etc.

As a veganpreneur myself, I created GetVeganLifeInsurance.com to draw the connection between a plant based diet not only saving animals, the environment, and your health, but you’ll be able to save more money down the line with cheaper insurance rates by eating the foods that prevent and reverse diseases that a Standard American Diet contributes to like heart disease, some types of cancer, and diabetes. The life insurance industry has given me the tools and system necessary to work for myself, which gave me freedom to fund

and focus on other passions, and I teach others to do the same. The skills I’ve learned from this business have advanced other areas of my life such as finance, marketing, and sales. When connecting with people I’ve found a disconnection between creativity and purpose with business, but here’s where conscious capitalism comes into play.

Conscious capitalism uses the power of entrepreneurship and business and merges it with a higher purpose designed to do something greater.

Being vegan has a political cause, environmental aspect, health benefits, and compassion towards animals. With such an important movement there’s a massive need for people to contribute their skills and launch businesses and join forces with other veganpreneurs.

If you don’t know where to start I challenge you to write a list of skills you possess and think of ways you’d like to contribute to the world. Everyone has a skill that can benefit someone else. If you’re not in a financial place to leave your job I recommend you start off as a hybrid entrepreneur and build something part-time while you work your day job.

There’s room for everyone and you have something unique that can impact many. Here’s to the Veganpreneur!

ream Rockwell, who is also the co-founder of the Lightning in a Bottle Annual Festival, presents the Lucent Dossier Experience, a production that mere words can only begin to describe. When visiting Lucent Dossier expect a stage experience that tears down the walls which separate the artist and the ob server.

dtla-weekly.com Downtown Angelenos and surrounding neighbors and friends have an exciting opportunity to wrap up the year by witnessing a dazzling and unique display of interactive performance at a preNew Year’s Eve presentation of Lucent Dossier on December 29th at the legendary Clifton’s Republic on Broadway in DTLA. When asked about this concept, Dream says, “I was a dancer for many years and did a lot of shows, but I always felt like there was this weird separation between myself and the audience.” She draws a connection between reality television, social media, and a deep seated need for people to feel more involved vs. being mere spectators.

“I just felt like people wanted to be more involved,” she elaborates. “They didn’t want to be sitting and watching the show, they wanted to be part of the show somehow.”

Another reason for the creative work Dream does, via The Lucent Dossier Experience, festival gatherings, music video directing and more, is to inspire others.

“I’m one person,” she says, “and I can only affect the world so much, but if everybody’s thinking more creatively and choosing more creative options in their life, then I feel like the world is going to be better.”

She elaborates: “The whole desire with Lucent is really to inspire people to think more creatively, so, thus, let’s break down those fourth walls, let’s get people involved, let’s get people being more playful and more inspired with the hope that they’ll go home and do something really magical with their lives and create some little special world for me to come into, for us to come into, and inspire others to make more art.”

Now that we know the inspiration behind The Lucent Dossier Experience, what exactly can one anticipate at this event? “Well, we love the word ‘enchantment’” Dream replies.

The experientially “Naughty Downtown Los Angeles Sex Tour” was conceived from Sienna taking matters into her own hands, “if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself”, and that she did. Downtown Weekly LA was invited to the “Naughty DTLA Sex Tour” by Sienna herself!

Naughty Dungeon

Sienna Sinclaire is LA’s very own friendly, uninhibited, and approachable guide through the past naughty stories and presently naughty happenings of Downtown LA. She can also coach you through exploring intimate sensual desires in the few dark hours touring on the naughty bus and experiencing some of Downtown LA’s sexiest spots.

We walked into a brick building and walked through an industrial looking door down several hallways, up a set of stairs, and down to the end of another hallway coming to a door of a creative loft/studio. After the secret knock and assuring Sienna was the person at the door, we were welcomed in by the Mistress herself.

She offered us a brief introduction and tour of the space catering to those who would like to be tied up, spanked, shackled, and/or whipped. You are left to enjoy some time to your pleasure with access to all amenities of the dungeon, tools and cages are made available. Mistress is there to demonstrate a good spanking if you wish. Definitely one hands on stop that seemed to be a highlight of the night for many participants, men and women alike.

Our evening began chauffeured in a black carriage/ naughty bus. A classy, glossy, black microbus with the words “Party Bus” inscribed in white letters directly above the rear window. The elegant carriage had a regular chauffeur, dim lighting, red and green nightclub laser lights, a stripper pole at the rear, with the entire circumference of the interior lined by black leather seating, in other words, a moving strip club on wheels.

Time was up and we were off to the sexy bar and lounge of the tour. The front of the venue consisted of a packed bar, yet afforded a quieter space and environment to converse and mingle. However, traveling past the restrooms, hallways, and kitchen, we come to a dancefloor, tables and another bar. There a club atmosphere, restaurant, and bar come together to create a space to drink, mingle, and dance!

The naughty bus at this point in the night offers to trolly participants to the liquor store for those who may want to restock for the next and final stop, the swingers club. The club provides bartenders to serve you and simple mixers, however, this party is BYOB/liquor and mixers.

At 12:30am we all met at the naughty bus to leave the sexy bar and lounge and head to the naughty swingers club where this whole night has been leading up to. Sienna hands everyone a NaughtyLA bag o’goodies containing a “Naughty Card” for discounts at various venues, a book Sporting Guide, Los Angeles, 1897, lubricant, among other Naughty items.

Naughty Strip Club After we loaded, the naughty bus drove us to Southern California’s largest topless sports bar and grill located at the east end of Downtown LA. Our ride was guided step by step by Sienna who supports a no rules, have fun, and let loose naughty ambiance. Not only is the use of the stripper pole of the bus encouraged, but prized with gifts from Sienna Sinclair’s “Naughty Toys” sex toy line to be awarded to the three sexiest and most provocative pole dancers in the group. Winners are chosen for being exceptionally free and sexy while shaking “that thang” on the stripper pole.

DTLA’s Naughty Secrets Participants can arrive at the topless sports bar early to enjoy dinner, drinks, and strippers before heading back in time on the naughty bus. That is what we did as we explored the buildings, streets and neighborhoods where brothels, painted ladies/Madames, and women of the night used to roam/rule. For although, wild and naughty, this tour is more than a risque tour for the uninhibited and open minded thrill seekers, the “Naughty Downtown LA SexTour” will also educate those interested in LA’s covert beginnings rooted in fetishism, sensuality, and secretiveness. Where cribs (the hourly rentals of the regular “legal” prostitutes) were located and positioned directly across the streets from the painted ladies who charged exacerbated amounts for their (“illegal”) prostitutes in the brothels. Sienna will share relics she acquired from the original “brothels” as part of the experience, you can actually hold in your hands.

Just before being chauffeured to a provocative all white dungeon ran by a Mistress, our next stop on the tour, we made one creepy stop for the participants who were taking this tour with me. We stopped at the “Cecil Hotel” in Downtown LA, home of the writer/serial killer of prostitutes in the late 1990’s. While on a writing assignment about LA prostitutes he began and continued killing them for months prior to being stopped. And it was off to the provocative all white dungeon ran by a Mistress!

Naughty Sex Club We arrived back at square one, where participants began their night and will conclude it. Only couples and women are allowed inside (tip for solo men: look for a date on NaughtyLA). Those who do not wish to enter the club are free to do as they wish for the remainder of their evening and those that will participate enter.

The interior consists of a dance floor, bar, showers, lockers, and open “private” rooms throughout where the only rule enforced is to be respectful and always allow the women to let you know what they are comfortable with. The night begins with participants hitting the showers and changing into sexy attire. You would think you are in a nightclub, however that atmosphere gradually begins to resemble scenes from X-Rated films as the crowd on the dancefloor diminishes and the rooms fill with people unleashing their passions.

Hayslett attributes LaTres’ success not only to the boutique’s upscale lingerie, but to her philosophy of empowering all women and providing positive lingerie options for plus-sized women.

Hayslett sees the online store has “fairly successful, paying for itself.” But she records the dominant portion of LaTres’ business depending upon good old-fashion foot traffic, customers who walked through the doors into the shop.

When asked if she had any advice for people starting their own business, she said,

f the 21 Best Picture winners of the Critics Choice Awards, 14 went on to win the Oscar. I won’t name names, but there were at least three years when the Critics Choice members had better taste than the Academy. Of all the individual critics groups, Boston might be the most predictive with 10 of their last 16 winners claiming Oscar’s ultimate prize. La La Land won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival. Four of its last seven winners went on to the Best Picture Oscar. Gold Derby, which is the most respected Oscar prognosticating site, rates La La Land as the Oscar favorite with 24 of its 28 experts foreseeing a La La Land win.

Why the list you ask? The list is proof that La La Land is the oddson winner to take home the Best Picture Oscar. Let’s dive in.

So why is La La Land the presumptive favorite? It’s a love letter to Old Hollywood and Hollywood loves to celebrate itself.

Creative people tend to be narcissistic by nature and what’s more narcissistic than celebrating a film that celebrates Hollywood and creativity? And La La Land tells the stories of two dreamers, a musician and an actress, who want to make it big and the pitfalls they encounter along the way. Every person who has pursued a career in entertainment can relate.

Director Damien Chazelle sums it up.

“These characters are examples of people who are very set on a goal and they’re going after that goal, but the actual specifics of that goal are open to shifting. They’re still figuring out who they are and they’re still figuring out what kind of artists they want to be, and that’s a good thing. On the one hand, that’s a good thing. You catch them at a period in their life when there’s still this openness to change. But on the other hand, it creates even more uncertainty. Even the most deluded people in Hollywood, and there are many, frequently ask themselves ‘what am I doing?’ Scratch that. Self-doubt is universal. It’s not unique to Los Angeles obviously. Who doesn’t want to see their hopes and dreams glamourized on the big screen?

La La Land is also a lo lo love letter to Los Angeles. Though many of us who live here are from somewhere else, people on the coasts think the world revolves around the coast. There’s a reason why the middle of the country is referred to, sometimes condescendingly, as flyover country.

Chezelle explains the Los Angeles love fest. “I grew up on the east coast. L.A., to me, was the action movies I was watching, as a kid in the ‘90s. It was Speed, Terminator and Volcano. It was this concrete jungle that seemed entirely unliveable, compounded with the east coast snobbery about L.A. So, I moved here very hesitantly. I really just moved here because of movies and feeling like, “I’ve gotta at least try it out and see.” I was uneasy here at first, and I felt a little isolated, and then I fell deeper and deeper in love with the city.

It was a late-blooming love affair with the city, as I discovered that it’s so much more than what I thought it was. Part of what I love about it and wanted to capture here is the way it reveals itself slowly to you.

It’s not the best city for visitors because it doesn’t give you everything on a silver platter, the way that New York or certain European cities do. You have to search a little bit more in L.A. That can be frustrating, but it can also be really rewarding.”

Speaking of rewards, La La Land is hauling them in. No doubt it will be soon be checking more items off its list with a double digit tally of Oscar nominations.

And odds are it will be checking off the biggest check of all, Oscar’s biggest reward.

n Christmas night, NBA fans will receive one final gift, not under a glowing majestic glittering tree, when the Los Angeles Clippers face the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center on Sunday, December 25th, at 7:30 p.m.

he game will air on ESPN: the Leader in Sports is serving up a Quintuple (5 Games) header. The nightcap belongs to the L.A. rivals!

This will be the second year the teams meet on Christmas, last year the Clippers defeated the Lakers, 94-84. Unfortunately, Blake Griffin will not be able to teach Rudolph any new moves, his injured right knee will require surgery. The 5-Time AllStar is having a fantastic season, leading the team in points at 21.7 PPG, Griffin is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

The Clippers sit at 3rd in the stacked Western Conference, at a mark of 21-8.

This is the Clippers best start in franchise history. On Tuesday, J.J. Reddick, who scored 27 points, as the Clippers blew out the visiting Denver Nuggets, 119-102 at Staples Center. Chris Paul added 16 points and 15 assists.

Chuck the Condor, the Clippers mascot is soaring awful high these days, as everyone agrees this is a make or break year for Doc and the boys. Can the trio of Griffin, Jordan and Paul deliver an NBA Title?

It’s still early in the season, and of course the juggernaut Golden State Warriors still have our number, but these Clippers are more resilient. After enduring devastating playoff exits in recent years, the core group has learned from those tragic lessons and are poised to make a deep run in the NBA playoffs.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the midst of a depressing December. On Tuesday, December 20th, the Purple and Gold blew a 19 point on the road against the Charlotte Hornets, 117-113. In fact, the Los Angeles Lakers have lost 10 of their last 11 games, and have a 11-20 record.

The Lakers and Clippers haven’t played each other this season, the matchup between point guards, D’Angelo Russell and Chris Paul will be a suspenseful, ankle-breaking show for the fans.

Rams Revenge

The Los Angeles Rams need a Christmas miracle, and we the fan deserve a break from the frantic Holiday rush. Ditch the malls and the stress, as the San Francisco 49ers visit the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24th at the Coliseum. Kickoff is at 1:25, and the Rams will be flashing back by wearing their vintage blue and mustard yellow jerseys.

It’s time for revenge, and a victory is within reach, since the 49ers are even worse, if anyone can believe that. At 1-13, San Francisco it seems has literally done nothing since its opening week 1 victory.

The Rams return to Los Angeles has been disappointing, but let’s stay positive because it’s Christmas. This will be interim head coach John Fassel’s first home game, our stout defense is led by Defensive Tackle Aaron Donald, who made his third consecutive Pro Bowl this week.

Donald has been merciless against opposing QB’s, hitting them a whopping, NFL best, 29 times.

The Rams and 49ers haven’t played in Los Angeles since 1979. Granted, it’s difficult to get pumped up by watching teams with a combined record of 5-23. However, the final two games of the season can set the tone for 2017.
