Our Method

For UK English, we use the MHRA, Hart’s Rules and the Oxford English Dictionary, the country’s premier language guides, to ensure precision and finesse. For US English, we reference the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. All of our native speakers are able to style projects either in US or UK English. The best format for edits is Word documents (we will use Tracked Changes) or Adobe Acrobat PDF for proofs.

Project Amount

We are happy to work on a weekly, monthly or annual basis. Any indication of the amount of project work during quotation is welcomed.

House Style

The OED, Merriam-Webster, the MHRA style guide, various refencing systems and personalised house styles are used to perfect your words.

Before project work can begin, we would expect to receive a house style or some guidance on your expected service.

Negotiation

All negotiations must be agreed prior to contractual agreement. We are always flexible and open to negotiation.

We edit and proof: Word, Pages, PDF in US, UK and other Englishes, in Latex or web-based editor applications for articles, essays, documents, brochures, website copy, job descriptions, books, leaflets, company guidebooks, newsletters etc. via email, Dropbox, box, Adobe Sharing, FTP and more.

After consultation, we will send you a quote. Once agreed, you will sign an agreement and we sign any data protection agreements, allowing you to send us us all documentation you require editing. We will then proceed within the agreed turnaround time.

We edit, write or proof your projects and return them to you via your preferred method.

The copy-editing stage involves the most focused work on rewriting and refreshing text. Proofreading is yet another opportunity to spot errors, especially if a number of documents have been combined. The quality of each project is paramount to our clients, and to us.

Project Delivery

Fast delivery methods include email, Box, Dropbox and an FTP method. All are available and each project will be accompanied with quotations or order forms with all details including the deadline and, lastly, the invoice will follow.

New customers will need to pay 50% up front, 50% on completion, whereas if you have used our services before, you can pay 30 days after project completion.

Catch-ups and Review

We propose a quarterly catch-up or annual review, virtually or in-person, where we would discuss the expected number or projects, availability and feedback.

We always further discuss plans to improve service delivery and go through any major company updates as they materialise. We like to keep clients up-to-date with our progress to ensure that we understand your company’s outlook and vision and you understand ours.

Communication

Phone and video calls via Zoom or Teams are the best methods of communication. All communication will most likely be through either your Account Manager or our Managing Director, with all responses within 24–48 hours depending on your timezone.
