Dr Lorraine Earps Head
WELCOME TO THE GRANGE SCHOOL
Our school is a warm and welcoming environment built on the strength of relationships between our children and staff. We provide a modern, forward-thinking approach to independent education based on traditional values. Here, our children are motivated to learn and encouraged to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities so that they develop academically and emerge as fully-rounded, thoughtful and caring individuals.
OUR VALUES

The Grange Junior School provides an outstanding start to any child’s educational journey. We understand the importance of these formative years in the development of each young person and want every child to develop a love for school and for learning.
JUNIORS

We enable our children to flourish as individuals; encouraging children to pursue their own interests and strengths. As well as sports and creative arts we offer leadership opportunities, the chance to engage in charitable events and hear from guest speakers. We also arrange numerous day trips and offer residential stays both in the UK and overseas.
Caring
Enriching
Learning
The purpose of the education we offer at The Grange Junior School is to prepare our children for life, as well as the next stage of their education.

We offer a learning programme from Reception to Year 6 that is designed to be both broad and flexible, creating a full, balanced education. Children develop particular academic interests and passions; ensuring they attain at the highest level of which they are capable. With a focus on staff development, an average class size of 21, a teaching staff: child ratio of 1: 12 and modern, well-equipped facilities, it is no surprise our children consistently attain beyond expectation.
“I like going into different lessons in different rooms, like the Science Lab and Design Technology workshop. I also love the library – it’s awesome!” Mollie, Junior School
Our first priority is to provide a caring atmosphere in which the children can thrive and learn. This requires staff that welcome and understand each and every child, giving them – and their parents – the attention that they deserve. This allows us to help them successfully navigate their way through the inevitable difficulties of growing up and life in general. Happy children will learn. We also offer wrap-around care before and after school to help parents meet the demands of modern working life.

The modern Sixth Form Centre provides a stimulating atmosphere where students can study, meet and socialise; further developing a deeper experience and community spirit based on the principles of self-management as well as collective responsibility.
Explore and Experience
Beyond the academic arena, there are a broad range of enrichment and leadership experiences for students. These include the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, a Peer Support scheme, our Extended Project Qualification as well as drama, music and sporting opportunities.

Our Curriculum is an all-embracing experience and is made up of our Academic, Enrichment and Personal Development Programmes. We believe it allows our students to experience an education that doesn’t just take place in the classroom.

We acknowledge that every student here is an individual, with different personalities, interests and abilities; our Personal Development Programme ensures we tailor learning to everyone individually. We also have a dedicated Careers Department who, from Year 7 onwards, work to help prepare students for life beyond The Grange and offer advice and support with university applications.

the opportunities for our students to develop both intellectually and personally. Our students rise to the challenge with relish and success, receiving as much help and encouragement as they need. This is supported through our Enrichment Programme, helping embed the traits needed for academic success.

Support Services
Mrs
We offer both academic and emotional support as part of our Support Service. We have specialist assessors and trained staff who are available to help identify specific difficulties and ascertain the best way to support students. If we do identify any difficulties, we support students through small groups and 1:1 tutorials. We try hard to dispel the myth that those with specific difficulties such as dyslexia are less able.
PASTORAL CARE & WELLBEING
We encourage all our young people to support and care for each other through living the school’s values. Over the course of the year we have various awareness events including WellFest; a week-long series of activities that focus on mental health, wellbeing and showing generosity and kindness towards Weothers.have a Peer Support Group allowing students to talk to each other and at the Junior School our Buddies are always willing to help a fellow child if they need a friend. We also hold yoga and mindfulness sessions for students.
Student Activities
“Every day you come to The Grange, you feel part of something greater and I find that inspiring.” Davenport, Head of Year
At The Grange the wellbeing of our young people is taken very seriously, it is our responsibility as educators that all who attend are healthy, happy and safe at school.
We also provide an in-house counselling service with qualified psychotherapists. With a dedicated space in the school, our welcoming support area can also function as a retreat, which is especially helpful for those who sometimes need headspace.

SPORTING EXCELLENCE
We actively encourage participation in sports, as it is a core part of every student’s education. Through lessons, our House System and school teams, there is an opportunity for everyone to find the right sport, at the right skill level, for them. We have an open door policy to all training sessions and will always let our students take part in something they love. This extends to our Saturday programme in which opportunities are available for all students to participate in competitive fixtures against other schools.
Sport is a key aspect of Grange life, through participation, competitions and high-quality coaching our students gain pride in taking part and pushing themselves to achieve, as well as keeping fit.

With an extensive fixture list that provides challenge and success in more than 10 different sports, there is always a game happening on any given day. Sports include rowing, netball, football, rugby, hockey and tennis as well as alternative activities including low ropes and climbing.

Mr Williams, Director of Sport and Planning

BEYONDENRICHMENT
Every student is a member of one of our four Houses; Bollin, Dane, Gowy and Weaver. There are over 20 competitions and students can contribute to their House by competing themselves or helping to coach younger students. Everyone recognises how the House System is about more than winning though, valuing the feeling of belonging and the sense of community that it offers.
Life at The Grange School extends beyond the classroom walls, with a programme of over 90 enrichment activities a term for our students to take part in; invaluable to the development of confident, well-rounded individuals. The Grange School Bus Routes

The Grange School is located in the Heart of Cheshire, in the leafy village of Hartford, just South of Northwich, providing many advantages over city centre schools.
Wrap Around Care
The school offers a safe, reliable and efficient travel service to a number of locations across Cheshire including Chester, Crewe, Frodsham, Kelsall/Tarporley, Knutsford, Nantwich and Wychwood Park. The service, which is available and appropriate for the use of all our young people, aged 4-18, is provided by local, well-respected travel Driverscompanies.areDBSapproved and where possible remain the dedicated driver on a particular route. Journey costs vary depending upon the location. Travel times are continually reviewed to keep them as short as possible and, without the congestion city centres suffer from, it can, in some cases, be quicker getting here than somewhere closer to home.

We understand the needs of our families and that many of them lead busy lives. At the Junior School from 7.30am until 8.30am, the Earlybirds Club provides a safe, supervised environment for children. From the end of the school day until 6.00pm the children can attend Sundowners where a varied range of activities take place. There is also a holiday club which runs at the Junior School, during the school holidays. Enrichment activities at the Senior School and Sixth Form also take place every day after school.
Travel by Train Hartford and Greenbank Stations are both within walking distance of the school and some students do choose to travel by train.
