The Dennis G34D in action

World-class cuts LAST YEAR WAS testing for Durham CCC head groundsman Vic Demain and his team at the Emirates Riverside Stadium: they had the pressure of hosting games for the Official ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. However, they managed to rise to the challenge, and they received a number of plaudits along the way. “We had three World Cup matches, but in addition to that we had approximately 20 days of World Cup practice sessions,” says Vic. “When the World Cup is on TV, viewers might see a game at Lord’s one day and then the next day they will watch a game here at Durham. That’s a lot to live up to, especially with the game being viewed by a global audience.”

For that all-important matchday presentation Vic relied on the Dennis G34D, which has been designed and built following the same concept as the popular Dennis G860 cylinder mower. It’s available in three different cutting sizes – 26”, 30” and 34” – and incorporates a large-diameter, eight-bladed cutting cylinder to cater for a wide range of uses, always leaving a precision cut. The handlebar design makes manoeuvring easy and the wide adjustment makes it comfortable for all cutting heights. “The G34D offers superior presentation – it’s always a pictureperfect cut,” says Vic. www.dennisuk.com

PELLENC UK HAS launched the Rasion Easy 2. The popular model was originally launched in 2016, and is now back with new key features. For noise control, it has a silent brushless wheel motor with direct drive: noise levels stay at 91 dB at speed 3 and 93 dB at maximum power. The vibration rate is slow, at 0.7 m/s², and the single front wheel, with two locking positions, facilities stability. The model also brings new electronic management from the IMS (insulated metallic substrate) circuit board. This allows for improved heat dissipation, absorbing power peaks during intensive mowing without reducing the blade speed. There’s also an anti-jam system, which allows reverse rotation of the blades to remove excess grass from the housing while the mower keeps running. What’s more, ICC (intelligent cutting control) sensors will now be available as an option (not standard) on the Easy 2. This patented feature allows the mower to detect the height and density of the grass and change the engine speed accordingly. This saves power, as you don’t have to run the machine under full-load unnecessarily. www.pellencuk.com The Pellenc Rasion Easy is back, bigger and better than before
