Creative Diplomacy: a leadership skill for the 21st century Creative diplomacy is diplomacy practiced through the prism of creativity. This course provides participants with the opportunity to explore the concept of “creative diplomacy” as a powerful extension to classical diplomacy. In addition to discovering new methods and skills in diplomacy, participants will be able to discuss common challenges, and share experiences and develop creative and innovative solutions.
Ambassador Chitra Narayanan Ambassador Chitra Narayanan is a former journalist, publisher and career diplomat. Her extensive career as an Indian diplomat included postings in Rome, Nairobi and Washington D.C. She served as Ambassador of India to Sweden and Latvia; Turkey; and to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and The Holy See.

Why you should attend This course aims to combine diverse inputs to generate curiosity, creativity and innovative thinking in foreign policy. It will enable participants to open the doors of the mind to new skills and perspectives through which to view and practice diplomacy. Participants will discover how architecture, arts and design, communications and sports can be applied to diplomacy in general, and to their own work in particular.

Faculty profiles
This executive course is based on the combination of three reinforcing pillars: the transfer of knowledge, leadership and decision-making skills as well as creating interconnections between different sectors for effective diplomacy and foreign policy.
In addition to GCSP in-house experts, the faculty teaching the course hold, or have held, positions in foreign affairs, architecture, arts and design, communications and sports. They have experienced first-hand what it takes to be an effective leader in fast tempo – highstake situations. They will share their success and failures with the participants.
GCSP The GCSP is an international foundation with 46 member states from across the globe. It has a longstanding reputation for excellence in providing forward-thinking and innovative solutions for policymakers concerned with international affairs and security in today’s complex, globalised world. Every year, the GCSP trains some 800 government officials, diplomats, military officers, international civil servants and NGO staff from around the globe.
In the heart of “International Geneva” The course venue is located in the “Maison de la paix” (House of Peace) right between key international organisations and multinational companies based in Geneva. Hosting 29 international organisations, around 250 non-governmental organisations, and some 170 diplomatic missions, Geneva represents one of the world’s richest networks on multilateral diplomacy and international affairs.
Tuition fees: CHF 1,000 (includes tuition, teaching materials and lunch). In a limited number of cases, scholarships can be granted to promising candidates. Language requirements: The course will be held in English. No translation will be provided.
