Page 1

The Preamble

So, you have stumbled across The Gamer Guide and you are wondering, “Why do I need a guide to gaming?” Well, we will not guide you on how to game, but we will keep you informed as to what the gaming industry has to offer to get you the best gaming experience! Now, the second thing you are probably wondering is, “How did The Gamer Guide start?” Well, it can be a slightly long story. However, the shortened version is that the journey of three Twitch streamers brought them together, and with their passion for gaming, their experiences of streaming, and their love for everything within the world of entertainment… The Gamer Guide was born.

But what exactly is The Gamer Guide? The Gamer Guide is a digital magazine that focuses on everything gaming and streaming. This includes the latest/upcoming releases, reviews on gaming accessories, streaming tips, and even interviews with streamers and industry professionals from across the globe. Our readership is predominantly other gamers and streamers, just like us! We understand that the love and passion for gaming extends far beyond just playing a game, and that is what we are all about!

So, who are the people behind this magazine?

Brandon Sawyer - Content Director

Sawyers main gaming love is Gears of war and RPGs because who doesn’t love an adventure or some chainsaw slaying with a cheeky blind fire or wall bounce. Due to Sawyers vast knowledge and background within the industry he came together with Emily to form The Gamer Guide.

Emily Welfare - Creative Director

Emily, also known as CreativeTrashGaming, came together with Sawyer to form the Gamer Guide, bringing her creative knowledge. Her favourite types of games are those with a compelling story, or those that just make her inner Fantasy Nerd go ballistic. She also likes spooky stuff, not just in the gaming realm but in general, and has a podcast with her two sisters where they discuss all things horror. Emily loves to dabble in the art world often, creating digital art pieces and learning new crafts. A graphics designer in her full time job, Emily is an integral part of the team whom designs the entire layout of our magazines from top to bottom!

ducky one x: an analogue revolution for gamers and creators

When innovation meets precision, you get the Ducky One X—a full-sized keyboard that boldly reinterprets what a mechanical gaming deck can be. Delivered to us courtesy of Overclockers UK, this keyboard doesn’t just promise rapid-fire response and tactile bliss; it introduces Ducky’s own twist on analogue input technology that aims to elevate both competitive gaming and creative workflows. Let’s dive deep into a review that covers every intricate nuance of this device.

Cutting-Edge Design and Build Quality

From the moment you unbox the One X, the first thing that strikes you is its minimalist, yet unmistakably premium aesthetic. The keyboard arrives in a sleek white chassis, accentuated by subtle pastel RGB lighting that caters to both gamers who crave understated sophistication and content creators who demand a studio-worthy piece of tech on their desk. The build quality is solid, featuring high-quality PBT double shot keycaps designed to withstand marathon sessions—be it intense gaming battles or prolonged content creation.

However, even the best can have a hiccup; during our initial exploration, a couple of keycaps, when removed, managed to tug out their underlying switches. Though hardly a deal-breaker, it suggests that a slight refinement in the mounting mechanism might be beneficial in future iterations.

Performance: Bridging Digital Precision with Analogue Versatility

At the heart of the Ducky One X lies Ducky’s very own inductive switching technology—a refreshing departure from conventional Hall effect switches. Instead of a binary actuation, these switches operate in an analogue spectrum, providing extremely consistent and smooth key responses. The analogue nature translates into nearly imperceptible actuation thresholds (down to a 0.1 mm difference in key travel) that cater to

the nuanced demands of competitive gaming. It supports true 1000Hz update rates, ensuring that every keystroke is captured with lightning precision—critical for rapid-fire FPS games or fast-paced RTS battles.

For streamers and creative professionals, this analogue finesse means that typing isn’t just about speedy input but about a well-balanced tactile experience that reduces fatigue during long editing sessions while still delivering that satisfying “click” every time you compose an email or a script.

Software and Customization: A Mixed Bag

The One X embraces a web-based customization interface, where users can adjust RGB effects, macros, and even tweak the analogue actuation points. On the one hand, being web-based means the interface is accessible from virtually any device—perfect for modern, multi-workstation setups. On the other hand, the software doesn’t quite go deep enough into the realm of resilience and flexibility. Hardcore gamers or those who prefer extensive on-board profile management might find the limited feature set (lacking detailed custom profiles and granular Rapid Trigger settings) to be a slight drawback. Despite that, the straightforward nature of the software means you can set up your ideal configuration in minutes and get right into the action.

Why Gamers Will Love It

• Ultra-Low Latency: With its dedicated 2.4GHz wireless connectivity (and a wired option for those who demand the absolute best), theOne X minimizes input lag—critical in competitive scenarios.

• Analog Sensitivity: The ability to fine-tune actuation points means that every keystroke feels measured, offering a competitive edge in games that require rapid, nuanced commands.

• Responsive, Lubed Switches: The pre-lubed, consistently smooth switches offer that buttery tactile feedback expected from a premium keyboard, ensuring every tap translates into precise in-game action.

For gamers tired of the rigidity of binary input devices, the One X’s “analogue soul” can truly make a difference—especially in genres where every millisecond counts.

A Content Creator’s Dream

While gaming credentials are impressive, content creators will also find an abundance of reasons to fall in love with the Ducky One X:

• Ergonomic Comfort: The soft gasket-mounted design and sound-dampened construction ensure a quiet, comfortable experience during intensive editing or lengthy writing sessions.

• Multi-Platform Connectivity: Switch seamlessly between Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, or a direct wired connection, catering to users who hop between multiple devices and screens throughout their day.

• Clean Aesthetics: Its understated design ensures that it won’t steal focus from your creative projects or video streams—it’s as

• much a piece of art as it is a tool.

The narrow gap between gaming and creative input has rarely been bridged so elegantly. Instead of choosing between performance for play and comfort for productivity, the One X promises to deliver on both fronts.

Pricing

At the time of writing this overclockers is having a huge sale placing this product at £119.99 down from £178.99 which is an absolute bargain.

Final Verdict and Rating

The Ducky One X stands as a testament to Ducky’s commitment to innovation—a bold foray into analogue switching that manages to offer low latency, a sublime tactile feel, and a design that appeals on aesthetic, ergonomic, and performance levels. While certain software limitations and the occasional loose switch are minor blemishes on an otherwise impressive canvas, its overall performance makes it a formidable choice for gamers and content creators alike.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

If you’re looking for a keyboard that redefines responsiveness and comfort while opening the door to analogue gaming and seamless content creation, the Ducky One X is a refreshing, if not entirely perfect, option that proves a lot of promise for the future. As an added note, for those keen on getting the most out of this innovative keyboard, keep an eye on firmware updates and community-driven modifications that could soon refine its quirks—ensuring that this analogue masterpiece only improves with time. Enjoy the ride, and happy gaming (and creating)! You can purchase your very own Ducky One X keyboard over at Overclockers UK which you can see below.

Even when ANC is active—a feature that, while slightly shortening runtime, ensures a blissfully immersive listening environment—the earbuds still offer a respectable 8 hours of battery life. Soundcore enriches the Liberty 5 experience through robust software support. The dedicated Soundcore app not only provides intuitive controls over your settings but also includes Soundcore HearID 4.0—a personalized hearing assessment feature that tailors the audio output to your unique hearing profile. With a customizable eight-band EQ at your fingertips, fine-tuning your listening experience to match your personal preferences is as simple as a few taps on your smartphone. Controls have also been refined with a single-click gesture on the earbuds that can be assigned to functions such as activating voice assistants or even triggering your smartphone’s camera shutter. This streamlined control system simplifies use and adds a layer of convenience for users on the go.

Sound Performance & User Impressions

In use, the Liberty 5 strikes a balance between honourably reproducing details and injecting a bit of extra punch where it counts. The bass is pronounced without overwhelming the mids or treble, although some audiophiles might note that the emphasis leans slightly toward the lower and higher ends of the spectrum. The result, however, is an immersive listening experience across various media—from music streaming and podcasts to movies and gaming soundscapes. User feedback also emphasizes the excellent fit and comfort of the earbuds, particularly given the selection of six different ear tip sizes that ensure an optimal seal for diverse ear shapes. Whether on a morning jog or a long conference call, the Liberty 5 remains secure and unobtrusive, reinforcing Soundcore’s commitment to a user-centric design ethos.

Final Verdict & Rating

After thorough testing and extensive analysis, the all-new Soundcore Liberty 5 stands out as a feature-rich and compelling option in the affordable true wireless earbuds space. It carries a premium feel in design, outstanding battery longevity, and an impressive suite of audio enhancements that include groundbreaking AI-driven noise cancellation and personalized sound profiling. While certain nuances like the slightly exaggerated bass and treble may not cater to every audiophile’s palate, these are modest trade-offs considering the overall value and performance you receive at this price point.

Rating: 8.5/10

This score reflects the Liberty 5’s strong performance, innovative feature set, and competitive pricing in a rapidly evolving market. With a few refinements—particularly in the balance of its sound profile—these earbuds could comfortably rival higher-priced competitors, making them a smart and engaging choice for both casual listeners and dedicated audiophiles.

Looking Forward

For consumers eager to experience a thoughtfully engineered blend of technology and design at an accessible price, the Soundcore Liberty 5 represents a forward-thinking leap in true

wireless audio. Future firmware updates and user-driven enhancements promise to refine any minor shortcomings, ensuring that the Liberty 5 stays relevant in a competitive landscape. If you appreciate immersive soundscapes, enjoy personalized audio experiences, and demand

The design marries form and function seamlessly boasting premium materials that are robust enough to handle rigorous gaming sessions yet lightweight enough to avoid fatigue during marathon battles. Audio is where the Astro A50 Gen 5 truly shines. It employs advanced graphene driver technology that produces an expansive soundstage filled with dynamic highs and resilient bass, essential for competitive contexts where every subtle sound matters. While engaging in high-stakes Call of Duty: Warzone matches, I found the precision of audio cues unparalleled—the slightest whisper of footsteps or the distant reverberation of gunfire

was detailed and crystal clear. This level of sonic detail isn’t simply for show; it translates directly into in-game advantages, allowing for rapid reactions and heightened situational awareness in the midst of chaotic battles.

Microphone and Communication Quality

Beyond immersive audio, the headset is equipped with a broadcast-grade, noise-cancelling microphone that ensures your voice is transmitted with clarity, even in the midst of heavy in-game commotion. Whether you’re issuing crucial directives during a firefight or sharing strategies with teammates, the clarity of communication is essential. Personal Gaming Experience: Call of Duty: Warzone

My personal journey with the Astro A50 Gen 5 in Call of Duty: Warzone has been nothing short of remarkable. In a genre that demands split-second decisions and razor-sharp auditory perception, this headset has consistently delivered. Each match felt like an immersive cinematic experience, where the auditory landscape played a critical role in my success. I recall situations where a barely audible footstep alerted me to an enemy’s approach— allowing me a crucial moment to reposition or engage pre-emptively. The clarity of sound, combined with the headset’s comfort, meant that I could focus solely on the game, leading to a dramatic increase in victories and moments of strategic brilliance. This isn’t just a piece of gaming hardware—it’s a trusted ally in high-stakes digital warfare.

Pricing and Value Proposition

Positioning itself firmly in the premium market segment, the Astro A50 Gen 5 comes with a price tag of approximately 299/$300 (with regional variations possible). While this price might set

it apart from mid-range options, every pound of expenditure is justified by the exceptional performance and durability it delivers. The TGG Review

The G522 headset is a total game changer. I have been lucky enough to test this for some time and can confidentally say that this headset has become a core part of my set up, not just at my PC but around the house as well.

The headset itself is extremely comfortable and lightweight, meaning that I don't experience any aches or pains after hours of use. The adjustable suspension band has a specific type of weaving called Jacquard Weaving, which gives a 'ribbed' effect in the fabric and allows for stretching over the head but doesn't lose it's shape. The headset has two pairs of pins in order to adjust the suspension band, as well as the ability to slide the ears up and down for further adjustment. The ear cushions are soft and covered with a nice fabric that's breathable and prevents sweating.

I have worn this headset all day and evening, and can safely say that it is one of the most comfortable headsets I have ever worn. I have very sensitive ears and often cannot stand having a headset on for too long, but I have worn this headset for well over five hours without feeling the need to remove it.

The GHub App

The app is very easy to download, and the headset registers onto it immediately after connecting the USB cable to it. One of the main features of this headset is the ability to really make it your own via the lighting effects. The app has an amazing system where you can implement your own colour schemes and effects, and can even assign different ones to different games. All of the profiles you make are saved into the headset itself, so when you go back into wireless mode, the headset will still remember all of the profiles as you play.

You can even share the profiles with the community, and find ones that other people have posted as well, which I think is an amazing feature. The Hub also allows you to customise your sound experience. The system is very simple and self explanatory, making it easy to use for people of all experience levels when it comes to sound design.

Sound

The headset has some of the best sound clarity for a headset of it's price. With the new technology, the sound is very balanced in both ears. I find myself getting fully immersed into what I am listening to, whether it is in a game or listening to music, with little to no interruptions from the outside world. This is to say, these are not fully noise cancelling headphones, but they are very good at blocking outside noise. The microphone is also incredibly high quality, and can even match the quality of desk microphones. I ran a test where I swapped between the headset microphone and my studiograde desk mic, and asked if a difference could be heard. I was informed that other than sounding a little more muffled, the quality was pretty much the same.

Any Extras?

It's important to note that Logitech provides the means to get replacement parts for this headset. You are able to get replacement ear cushions, suspension straps, and batteries for the headset in their store. I think that's

Conclusion

Overall this headset is phenomenal for its price, and is one I will be using in the far future!

crucial p510 2tb: the mainstream gen5 game-changer

In the ever-evolving arena of solid-state drives, the Crucial P510 2TB has burst onto the scene with a promise of lightning-fast speeds, robust efficiency, and an accessible price point that appeals to both enthusiasts and everyday users. As PCIe Gen5 technology steadily redefines performance standards, Crucial’s latest offering is meticulously engineered to bridge the gap between cutting-edge performance and practical usability, making it a standout choice in today’s competitive market.

Engineering and Architecture

At the heart of the Crucial P510 lies a sophisticated marriage of advanced hardware and smart engineering. Packing a generous 2TB of capacity in the familiar M.2 2280 form factor, the P510 embraces the new era of PCIe Gen5 with a four-lane (x4) interface that opens the door to unprecedented data throughput. The drive is powered by the Phison PS5031-E31T controller paired with Micron’s 276-layer TLC NAND flash—a combination proven to deliver impressive performance in both sequential and burst data transfers.

Notably, the P510 employs a DRAM-less design that might raise eyebrows at first glance. However, Crucial’s integration of a 64MB Host Memory Buffer (HMB) and a robust pseudo-SLC cache ensures that performance remains consistently high even under demanding workloads. This streamlined design not only minimizes production costs but also contributes to improved power efficiency—a critical consideration for both performance and thermal management.

Speed and Performance

The benchmark figures of the Crucial P510 speak volumes about its prowess:

Sequential Read Speed

Up to 11,000 MB/s

Sequential Write Speed

Up to 9,500 MB/s

Capacity 2TB

These stellar numbers translate directly into practical benefits. Whether booting up your operating system, transferring large multimedia files, or editing high-resolution video, the P510 minimizes wait times and maximizes productivity. While random I/O benchmarks are important, the refined controller and smart caching strategy ensure that everyday operations remain snappy, establishing the P510 as a versatile performer for both professional and consumer applications.

Thermal Efficiency and Power Management

Driving performance without overheating is a challenge for many PCIe Gen5 devices. The P510, however, distinguishes itself through its exceptional thermal management. Even under sustained heavy workloads, the design maintains a cool operating profile, considerably reducing the risk of thermal throttling. This efficiency is achieved not only through its streamlined architecture but also via a reduced power draw— reportedly around 25% less than many of its Gen5 rivals. For those building power-sensitive systems or working in compact environments, this thermal efficiency offers peace of mind and sustained operational stability.

Price & Value

Beyond its impressive technical credentials, the Crucial P510 sets itself apart with a highly competitive price. Recognizing that cutting-edge performance should be accessible, Crucial has managed to price the 2TB model at approximately $200 in the US market. custom gundam gaming pc: a fusion of performance and artistry

In a bold and innovative project, our team has pushed the limits of custom gaming setups by integrating a life-sized Gundam head into a state-of-the-art gaming PC. This build is not merely about raw power—it’s a full-blown statement piece where cutting-edge hardware meets iconic design. Every component has been carefully chosen to deliver both exceptional performance and a visual spectacle that elevates any gaming space into an arena worthy of the legendary mechas.

At the heart of this build is the formidable ASRock Z890 Steel Legend motherboard. Its robust design was selected not only for its reliability but also for its striking aesthetic, perfectly complementing the futuristic theme of our rig. Paired with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265k CPU, which drives performance at blazing speeds, the system is built to handle the intense processing demands of modern gaming and immersive simulations.

To power the graphics, we chose the Zotac 5070Ti Amp Extreme GPU. This isn’t just any graphics card; it’s enhanced with an innovative infinity mirror design that creates a captivating visual effect. The reflective display adds an extra layer of depth and dynamism to the gaming environment, ensuring that every gaming session feels as awe-inspiring as a battle scene in a Gundam series. Graphics performance and artistic flair are seamlessly integrated, allowing the rig to deliver both stunning visuals and reliable gameplay.

Storage solutions have been configured to keep up with the demands of high-speed gaming and large-scale multimedia applications. The primary drive, a 4TB Samsung SSD 990 Evo Plus, guarantees lightning-fast load times and an incredibly responsive system, while a secondary 2TB Crucial T705 offers ample space for games, media files, and creative projects. This combination of massive storage and swift data access ensures you stay at the top of your game, even in the heat of battle.

Memory plays a crucial role in delivering seamless gameplay and high-performance multitasking, which is why we incorporated 64GB of DDR5 Pro 6000 MT/s Crucial RAM. This high-speed memory ensures that the system can handle intensive workloads, whether you're running multiple applications, streaming, or gaming at the highest settings.

Ensuring that all this top-tier hardware is powered reliably is the Sharkoon Rebel P30 Gold 1000W PSU. It delivers a steady, uninterrupted flow of power, critical for maintaining performance under extreme conditions. Cooling is just as crucial in a high-performance setup, which is why we implemented the Deep Cool LT240 WH ARGB liquid cooling system. This solution not only keeps temperatures in check but also complements the overall futuristic aesthetic of the configuration. But perhaps the standout element of this build is the custom integration of the life-sized Gundam head. Serving as both a tribute to a beloved franchise and a centrepiece of our gaming setup, the Gundam head transforms the rig into a piece of interactive art. The head, with its detailed contours and striking presence, becomes a beacon that draws the eye, merging technology with tradition in a way that is both unexpected and mesmerizing.

This project would not have been possible without the collaborative spirit of our close friends at Battlerigs Media. Their expertise, enthusiasm, and shared passion for all things gaming and pop culture have been invaluable. The visual impact of the setup was further enhanced by the impeccable custom paint job executed by Pop Off Paints. Their artistic touch ensured that every inch of the build, from the motherboard to the Gundam head, reflects a cohesive aesthetic that captures the spirit of innovation. In blending high-end hardware with the daring allure of a life-sized Gundam head, we’ve created more than just a machine; we’ve birthed a dynamic symbol for gamers and enthusiasts alike. This build stands as a

testament to what can be achieved when advanced technology meets creative vision—a true celebration of performance, passion, and pop culture.

The journey of crafting this custom PC has set a new benchmark in gaming rig design and invites innovators to consider how far the

intersection of art and technology can be pushed. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, a tech aficionado, or simply someone who appreciates groundbreaking design, this build embodies the future of immersive gaming experiences. Enjoy the ride and let the fusion of power and art inspire your own creative pursuits.

These enhancements ensure that the Switch 2 offers a more technically advanced gaming experience while remaining true to Nintendo’s hybrid design philosophy.

Game Announcements – What’s Coming to Switch 2?

Nintendo revealed a strong lineup of games slated for release on the Switch 2, ranging from original IPs to remastered classics.

Major New Titles

• Mario Kart World Bundle – $499.99 / £429.99

• Game Pricing – Standard first-party titles range between $70-$80 digitally and $90 for physical copies

Public Response & Consumer Concerns

Fans expressed outrage over the steep price hikes, particularly for game purchases. Many took to social media, labelling the pricing structure as “excessive” and even advocating for boycotts. Criticism intensified following a Nintendo Treehouse livestream, where fans flooded the comment section with demands for pricing adjustments. Nintendo defended its decision, citing:

• Hardware advancements and premium components

• GameChat integration for online communication

• Higher storage capacity

Despite Nintendo’s explanation, many remain unconvinced, arguing that the price increase is disproportionate.

Launch Date & Pre-Order System

Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch globally on June 5, 2025.

Pre-Order Availability & Strategy

Due to overwhelming demand, Nintendo implemented an invite-only system for preorders through its My Nintendo Store. Eligibility prioritizes:

• Long-time Switch Online members

• Users with at least 50 hours of gameplay recorded on their accounts

Despite this controlled rollout, several retailers have already sold out of pre-order allocations.

Conclusion – What Lies Ahead for Nintendo?

The April 2025 Nintendo Direct showcased an impressive array of hardware upgrades and game announcements, signalling a bold new direction for the company.

However, pricing concerns remain a major point of contention within the gaming community. While Nintendo maintains that the Switch 2’s premium experience justifies the price increase, the public reaction suggests that many gamers feel otherwise. As the launch date approaches, it remains to be seen whether Nintendo will respond to consumer concerns by adjusting prices or offering alternative purchasing models.

Regardless of the pricing debate, the Nintendo Switch 2 marks a significant evolution in gaming hardware, and its impact on the industry will undoubtedly be profound.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes everything familiar about traditional RPGs and injects it with mechanical depth, immersive storytelling, and real-time precision, resulting in one of the most engaging combat systems in recent memory. Its breathtaking Belle Époqueinspired aesthetic, combined with its unsettling yet gripping premise, makes every battle, every decision, and every interaction feel weighty and consequential.

Visuals & Performance: A Living Painting in Motion

Playing on max settings on PC showcases Expedition 33 in full artistic glory. Every environment feels meticulously handcrafted, blending dreamlike elegance with eerie decay. Lighting plays an integral role—flickering lanterns, dust settling under golden hues, shadows cascading across fractured architecture—every frame is painterly and intentional. Character animations exhibit incredible precision, giving weight to every movement, whether drawing a blade, landing a parry, or firing a decisive shot. The cinematic execution ensures battles feel visually arresting, whether engaging in small skirmishes or facing monumental foes.

Combat System: A Hybrid of Strategy & Skill

Where most turn-based RPGs rely solely on stat-

driven mechanics, Expedition 33 introduces real-time execution, demanding precision and tactical awareness.

Turn-Based Meets Reaction-Based Combat

• Marking System: Instead of simply selecting attacks, players must manually aim at enemy weak spots, turning every encounter into a skill-based challenge.

• Perfect Timing: Defensive maneuvers aren’t just about reducing damage—they’re about turning the tide. Well-timed parries, dodges, and counterattacks allow for momentum shifts that make each battle feel fluid and dynamic.

• Action Point (AP) Control: Instead of a predictable rhythm, players strategically build up AP, deciding whether to unleash devastating chained attacks or conserve energy for reactionary defence.

• The Paintress Effect: The looming presence of The Paintress alters enemy behaviours dynamically, ensuring battles remain unpredictable, adaptive, and visually dramatic.

Comparison to Other RPGs

Few titles manage to bridge the gap between

turn-based strategic thinking and real-time engagement this effectively:

• Persona Series: While reminiscent of Persona in its structured party-based battles, Expedition 33 requires manual aiming mechanics, transforming engagements into precision-based encounters rather than purely stat-driven exchanges.

• Final Fantasy ATB Evolution: Unlike traditional ATB systems, Expedition 33 merges free-form execution with tactical planning, ensuring combat flows less like a menu system and more like an intuitive battle sequence.

• Sekiro & Precision Combat: The parry mechanics draw inspiration from Sekiro, rewarding reaction time and mastery over enemy attack patterns, making defensive maneuvers skill-based rather than statdependent.

Narrative: A Haunting Journey of Fate & Resistance

Beyond its combat innovations, Expedition 33

delivers a poignant narrative—one of existential dread, human resilience, and the inescapable passage of time.

Every year, The Paintress marks an age, and those who bear the number vanish. This year, it’s 33.

The expedition comprises individuals bound by their impending erasure, embarking on a desperate mission to break the cycle. Character development feels authentic, driven by urgency, desperation, and fleeting hope. Voice performances—particularly those of Andy Serkis and Jennifer English—heighten the emotional gravity, ensuring every interaction resonates deeply.

Final Verdict: An Exceptional Blend of Tactical Mastery & Emotional Depth

Few games redefine their genre while captivating on all fronts—visual, mechanical, and narrative. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 achieves this with confidence and finesse, crafting an RPG that feels thoughtfully designed, emotionally gripping, and endlessly satisfying.

When The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion launched in 2006, it revolutionized open-world RPGs, setting a new standard for player freedom, immersive storytelling, and dynamic worldbuilding. For those of us who spent hundreds of hours traversing the wilds of Cyrodiil, unravelling conspiracies in the Imperial City, and stepping through flaming Oblivion Gates to fight Daedric horrors, this game was more than entertainment—it was an era-defining journey.

Now, with Oblivion Remastered, the challenge was clear: could this revitalized version preserve the soul of the original while elevating it to modern standards? The answer, overwhelmingly, is yes. This remaster does not simply offer a visual facelift—it refines mechanics, modernizes interactions, and enhances immersion while respecting the intricacies that made the original one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

Visual Excellence – A Stunning Reinterpretation of Cyrodiil

Graphically, Oblivion Remastered transforms the landscape of Cyrodiil while maintaining its distinct artistic direction. The original game, despite its innovation, suffered from lowresolution textures, rigid character models, and limited lighting effects—elements that made the world feel artificial by today’s standards. This remaster corrects those shortcomings with meticulously crafted improvements:

• Textures have been overhauled, with higher resolution surfaces that bring remarkable clarity to Armor, architecture, and landscapes.

• Lighting is dramatically improved, with natural illumination that adjusts dynamically, creating breathtaking sunrise vistas and shadowy cavern depths.

• Draw distances are vastly extended, eliminating the infamous environmental pop-in that once plagued open-world exploration.

Character models have undergone a complete revision, replacing the stiff and often unsettling facial animations with more natural expressions and refined details. NPCs feel alive—whether it’s the wary glance of a guard evaluating your actions or the warmth in the eyes of a companion discussing the latest guild intrigue.

Yet, while these enhancements elevate immersion, longtime players may experience a slight disconnect with some character redesigns. Certain NPCs, once defined by exaggerated proportions and distinctive features, now appear more realistic— occasionally deviating from the stylized aesthetic that nostalgic players remember. While this is an objective improvement, the change may take some adjustment for purists.

Gameplay Evolution – Refinement, Not Reinvention

Combat in Oblivion has long been a subject of debate. The original featured a weightless melee system, imprecise hit detection, and occasionally unbalanced difficulty scaling. The remaster addresses many of these concerns while preserving the game’s tactical depth and RPG mechanics:

• Melee combat is significantly refined, with improved collision detection, adjusted hitboxes, and responsive enemy AI that react more intelligently to player movements.

• Magic casting is smoother, removing the slight delay between spell activations while enriching visual effects—fire blazes more intensely, frost crackles with icy precision, and shock magic jolts with enhanced fluidity.

• Archery receives a welcomed upgrade, featuring improved projectile physics, though it retains some of its original floaty mechanics.

However, what Oblivion Remastered wisely avoids is excessive modification. Unlike its successor, Skyrim, which favoured a streamlined action-oriented approach, Oblivion thrives on depth—and this remaster ensures that spellcrafting, alchemy, and stealth mechanics remain intact, allowing veteran players to retain their long-mastered strategies while newcomers explore the RPG systems without sacrifice.

Questing and Immersion – Cyrodiil’s Stories Remain Unparalleled

One of Oblivion’s most defining achievements was its exceptional quest design. From the Dark Brotherhood’s unsettling moral dilemmas to the hilarious absurdity of Sheogorath’s

Daedric whims, the game established itself as an RPG storytelling gold standard. Thankfully, this remaster maintains every original quest while implementing voice processing improvements that smooth out previously awkward dialogue transitions. The once-jarring shifts in NPC tone are refined, creating more natural interactions that enhance immersion.

Moreover, Oblivion’s ambitious Radiant AI system, which enables NPCs to live independently, form relationships, and interact dynamically, remains as entertaining as ever. Guards still exhibit amusing pathing quirks, villagers still become strangely obsessed with mud crabs, and unscripted moments of emergent storytelling continue to unfold in unexpected ways. Though some AI behaviours remain slightly outdated, these imperfections contribute to Oblivion’s distinct charm rather than detract from it. This is a world where flaws breathe life into gameplay, reminding players why Cyrodiil stands as one of gaming’s most iconic settings.

A Masterful Balance Between Nostalgia and Modernization

What makes Oblivion Remastered truly exceptional is its restraint. It does not seek to redefine the game. It does not force mechanics into modern conventions. Instead, it enhances what was already brilliant, ensuring that longtime fans can step back into Cyrodiil exactly as they remember—but in sharper detail, smoother motion, and richer atmosphere.

For newcomers, this remaster delivers a timeless RPG experience that stands firmly beside today’s greatest open-world adventures. It proves that Oblivion, even after nearly two decades, remains an unparalleled masterpiece—a game that shaped the industry and continues to inspire.

Overall TGG Rating

Rarely does a remaster elevate a game so effectively while preserving its essence. Oblivion Remastered offers a definitive way to experience Cyrodiil, with meaningful enhancements that never compromise its legacy. Whether revisiting for nostalgia or exploring for the first time, this RPG remains as extraordinary as it was in 2006—if not more.

9/10

Audio

9/10

Refined voice processing, enhanced environmental soundscapes and remastered orchestral score that deepen immersion while preserving the nostalgic charm. Dialogue is clearer, combat effects feel weightier, and ambient sounds bring Cyrodiil to life with richer detail. Though some AI-generated responses retain minor stiffness, the overall audio presentation is vastly improved, reinforcing the timeless atmosphere of this RPG classic.

Visuals

9/10

Textures are sharper and more detailed, lighting is vastly improved, and environmental draw distances are extended, creating a world that feels more expansive and immersive. Character models receive a complete overhaul, with natural facial expressions and improved animations, though some longtime fans may find certain redesigns slightly unfamiliar. Landscapes now exude a rich vibrancy, with forests appearing denser, city architecture feeling more refined, and dungeons glowing with eerie atmospheric depth. While not a full next-gen visual transformation, the remaster’s graphical improvements make Cyrodiil feel more alive than ever, ensuring that returning players and newcomers alike experience the beauty of this RPG classic in its best possible form.

Playability

9/10

Thoughtful refinements that enhance fluidity while preserving the depth and freedom that made the original a masterpiece. Combat is more responsive, with improved hit detection, refined enemy AI, and smoother spellcasting, making engagements feel more tactical and satisfying. Movement and interactions benefit from quality-of-life improvements, ensuring smoother traversal without compromising the open-ended exploration that defines The Elder Scrolls experience. The legendary RPG mechanics remain intact—spellcrafting, alchemy, and stealth still allow for deep customization, ensuring players can shape their adventure exactly as they wish. While some mechanics still reflect their 2006-era design, these elements contribute to the game’s charm rather than hinder it. Whether revisiting Cyrodiil or experiencing it for the first time, Oblivion Remastered delivers a polished, immersive, and highly engaging RPG experience, proving its enduring legacy remains as strong as ever.

Delivery 9/10

The overall delivery earns this score for its thoughtful balance between nostalgia and modernization, ensuring that both longtime fans and newcomers experience Cyrodiil at its absolute best. The remaster refines mechanics, enhances immersion, and significantly improves visual and audio fidelity, all while preserving the depth and charm that made the original a masterpiece. Every element—combat, exploration, questing, and world-building—feels polished yet familiar, with qualityof-life upgrades that make the experience smoother without compromising its core identity. While some legacy quirks remain, they contribute to the game’s unique personality rather than detract from it. This remaster is not simply an upgraded version of Oblivion—it is a loving tribute to one of the greatest RPGs of all time, proving that nearly two decades later, Cyrodiil’s magic is as powerful as ever.

Elden Ring: Nightreign redefines the boundaries of the Soulsborne formula by fusing razorsharp co-operative gameplay with meticulously crafted narrative fragments. Developed by FromSoftware in close collaboration with Bandai Namco, this spin-off transforms every 45-minute cycle into an unforgiving, yet profoundly meaningful, crucible of teamwork, strategy, and emotional discovery. Having navigated its relentless challenges on Steam, my personal journey was as technical as it was deeply immersive—one that melded the art of boss combat with a rich tapestry of story and personal triumph.

An Evolution in Design: The Beauty of the Cycle

Nightreign’s cyclic structure is an audacious departure from traditional open-ended exploration. Every expedition is precisely calibrated, with each cycle distilling hours of meticulous planning and split-second decisionmaking into a compact, adrenaline-charged burst. This design mechanic is more than a gameplay element—it is a narrative metaphor for the transient nature of hope and achievement. In my playthrough, the inherent urgency forced me to abandon perfectionism and embrace adaptability. Every run was a study in progress and loss, where each failure was as instructive as a victory. In the fleeting moments between life and death, the game sculpted my approach into one defined by constant recalibration and raw, honest intensity.

Co-Operative Dynamics: Crafting Synergy Under Pressure

At the heart of Nightreign lies its uncompromising three-player co-operative mode. The absence of an integrated voice chat was quickly repurposed from a limitation into an opportunity—a catalyst that elevated

external coordination into an art form. Teamwork became a seamless blend of intuition and tactical precision. I partnered with two steadfast friends, and our bond was forged in the relentless crucible of combat. During one particularly memorable battle against “The Twilight Scourge,” a colossal entity whose every strike threatened to shatter our formation, we found ourselves on the edge of collapse. I recall the pulse-quickening moment when, acting as our tactical overseer, I redirected our formation in real time, turning a near-defeat into an electrifying victory. The intimate interplay of distraction, flanking maneuvers, and precision counterattacks not only highlighted the importance of strategy but also deepened our mutual trust—a testament to the transformative power of cooperative play.

Boss Encounters: Personal Battles in a Darkened World

No review of Nightreign would be complete without a deep dive into its unforgettable boss encounters. Each towering adversary is more than just a challenge—they are intricately designed characters carved from the same melancholic stones as Limveld itself.

One of the earliest trials was against the Dusk Ravager, whose relentless barrage of attacks left me on a constant razor’s edge. In that confrontation, every dodge and parry were punctuated by heart-pounding uncertainty. My co-op team and I communicated our positions using terse, instinctive cues, transforming the fight into a dance of desperation and brilliance. Later, my path converged with the enigmatic “Covenant of the Fallen,” a duo of spectral warriors whose synchronized assaults tested not only our combat prowess but also our ability to adapt on the fly. The thrill of

outmanoeuvring these enemies—even when our progress was brutally reset at the end of each cycle—imbued each victory with a sense of hard-won accomplishment that is hard to replicate elsewhere.

A particularly evocative memory was the showdown with the Abyssal Howler. This boss, shrouded in mystery and darker lore, forced me to confront the duality of power and vulnerability. Amidst the eerie glow of a crumbling citadel, I found myself not only battling for survival but also unravelling a part of the narrative that hinted at the tragic backstory of Night itself. These encounters worked on a visceral level—each blow exchanged, and every carefully calculated dodge resonated with personal significance, making each win a cherished milestone in my journey through despair and hope.

Narrative Depth: Environmental Lore and Personal Discovery

Nightreign eschews lengthy expositions in favour of environmental storytelling that rewards the observant and the thoughtful. Every ruined monument, cryptic inscription, and spectral figure served as a puzzle piece in a fragmented, yet haunting, lore. My personal experience was enriched by moments of quiet contemplation between the relentless challenges. In brief pauses amid frantic boss fights, I would explore hidden alcoves that whispered secrets of past glories and unspoken tragedies. The enigmatic figure of Night—ever looming on the edges of both the narrative and the environment—became a focal point of my introspection. His elusive presence, revealed through scattered journal entries and ruined lore, presented an ongoing mystery that bound each cycle together into an overarching story of loss, resilience, and redemption.

Technical Brilliance on PC/Steam

Experiencing Nightreign on a high-end PC via Steam was a revelation in technical excellence. The game’s graphical fidelity is nothing short of breathtaking—with every crumbling stone,

swirling particle effect, and dynamic lighting effect meticulously rendered. My rig handled the intense demands with fluid grace, ensuring that the immersive visual experience was uninterrupted by technical hiccups. Minor glitches and connectivity challenges did surface at the height of online activity; nevertheless, they were mere footnotes in an otherwise immaculate performance. The stability and polish on the PC platform amplified every aspect of the challenging gameplay, reinforcing the game’s status as a benchmark for modern co-operative experiences.

Conclusion: A Benchmark in Professional Game Design

Elden Ring: Nightreign is a consummate achievement in game design, merging innovative cyclical play with immersive cooperative mechanics and a narrative steeped in atmospheric lore. Its meticulously timed cycles, combined with emotionally charged boss encounters and an intricate environmental narrative, elevate it to a class of its own. Despite minor limitations—such as the lack of integrated voice communication—the game succeeds in one remarkable goal: transforming each playthrough into an unforgettable journey marked by both technical finesse and profound personal resonance.

Reflections and Forward-Looking Insights

My journey through Nightreign has been one of both personal evolution and unyielding challenges. The game’s blend of artistry, narrative subtlety, and intense co-operative dynamics continues to provoke thoughtful reflection on the future of multi-player storytelling. As potential improvements—such as integrated voice systems and adaptive matchmaking—loom on the horizon, one cannot help but be excited at the prospect of even deeper, more refined experiences that build upon the solid foundation laid by Nightreign. Embracing both its triumphs and its challenges, this title remains a celebrated milestone—a masterclass in the ever-evolving art of video game design.

Having spent considerable time exploring the sprawling urban labyrinth of The Precinct, I can confidently say the game is an audacious blend of retro detective thrillers and contemporary open-world dynamics. Set against the backdrop of a neon-soaked, rain-drenched Averno City, The Precinct draws you into an immersive, narrative-rich experience reminiscent of classic 1980s cop dramas. As an early build release, the game presents us with a robust vision of storytelling and gameplay, yet it also hints at a few technical imperfections that merit discussion.

Gameplay and Narrative Immersion

From the very first moment, The Precinct captivates its audience by placing you in the shoes of a morally complex detective. The narrative weaves together themes of personal tragedy, betrayal, and societal critique, challenging you to navigate the intricate web of Averno City's secrets. Whether you choose to conduct stealthy surveillance on shady characters or engage in high-octane chases through crowded street corridors, each decision shapes your journey. This level of interactivity enriches the narrative, ensuring that every playthrough feels uniquely personal and deeply engaging.

One of the game’s standout achievements is its seamless integration of narrative depth with the freedom of an open-world environment. Rather than being bound to a linear storyline, you are free to explore myriad side missions— from tailing elusive suspects to uncovering hidden

criminal networks. The adaptive AI further enhances this experience by dynamically responding to your choices, ensuring that no two play sessions are identical. It is this commitment to personalized storytelling that truly elevates The Precinct, making every moment in Averno City feel consequential.

Audio, Visuals, and Overall Aesthetic Integration

Graphically, The Precinct is nothing short of a visual masterpiece on the Xbox Series X. The detailed architecture of Averno City is brought to life through reflective wet asphalt, nuanced lighting, and intricately crafted cityscapes that evoke the atmosphere of gritty urban noir. Each neon glow and shadow are meticulously designed to underscore the game’s retrofuturistic theme, transporting players right into the heart of a cinematic mystery.

Complementing these stunning visuals is a meticulously curated soundtrack. The score brilliantly fuses synthesizer-heavy compositions with ambient soundscapes, perfectly capturing the emotional tone of the game. Every musical beat accentuates the unfolding drama, ensuring that the auditory experience is as immersive as the visual narrative. This harmonious blend of sight and sound creates an evocative world that rewards players with a fully realized sensory journey.

Performance Under Pressure: Optimizations and Glitches

Under ordinary gameplay conditions, the Xbox

Series X handles the demanding world of The Precinct with aplomb. However, specific moments—particularly those involving rapid movement—reveal that further optimization is needed. The instance of persistent time trials behind vehicles hints at potential latency issues or buffering challenges within the physics engine. Similarly, the occasional detachment of in-game objects points to areas where collision detection could be more robust.

While these glitches are evident in the early build, it is crucial to note that they do not overwhelm the overall gaming experience. Instead, they offer a glimpse into the iterative process common to ambitious projects. Encouragingly, the development team’s assurance of a dayone patch suggests that these issues will be addressed promptly, aligning with the game’s overall commitment to quality and player satisfaction.

Looking Forward: Community Engagement and Developmental Promise

In the dynamic landscape of modern game development, early access releases serve as an essential proving ground for ambitious titles. The Precinct is no exception, as its earlystage build has opened a dialogue between its

creators and the gaming community. This open line of communication is not only refreshing but also indicative of a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.

The forthcoming day-one patch is anticipated to alleviate many of the glitches, ensuring that the game’s performance aligns more closely with its visionary design. Such responsiveness to community feedback is a testament to the developers’ dedication to not only meeting but exceeding player expectations. It is this iterative approach that will inevitably solidify The Precinct as a flagship title in its genre, as ongoing enhancements continuously elevate the overall gameplay experience.

Conclusion

Ultimately, The Precinct is not merely a game; it is an evocative journey into a world of mystery, danger, and intrigue. Its innovative design and captivating storytelling offer a fresh take on the detective thriller genre. As a reviewer, I see this title as a promising evolution in narrativedriven gaming—one that continues to push boundaries and redefine player engagement. For those who value both deep story immersion and dynamic open-world exploration, The Precinct is a title that deserves your attention and anticipation.

The Precinct stands as a testament to creative storytelling and innovative gameplay on the Xbox Series X. While it faces minor technical challenges in its early build, the game’s ambition, engaging narrative, and immersive ambiance justify an 8/10 rating. This score represents a strong debut with ample room for refinement and evolution, making it a promising title for both narrative enthusiasts and modern gamers alike.

Visuals

This synthesis of old and new elevates every encounter into a masterclass of precision and excitement.

Visual and Auditory Excellence

The visual transformation is one of the game’s most distinguished achievements. Each iconic mobile suit is rendered in stunning high definition, enriched by dynamic lighting and textures that convey the wear of relentless battles. The reimagined battlefields serve as expansive canvases that encapsulate the

dramatic saga of warfare and honour. Complementing these advances is an orchestrated audio experience; the refined soundtrack and crystal-clear sound effects imbue every explosion and command with a palpable sense of urgency and grandeur. This convergence of visual and auditory artistry ensures that the player is fully absorbed in the Gundam universe from the first frame to the final conflict.

Narrative Depth and Emotional Gravitas

While the remaster pays tribute to its storied past, it also injects newfound vigor into its narrative. Enhanced cutscenes, articulate voice acting, and meticulously polished dialogue all coalesce to draw the player into themes of sacrifice, duty, and destiny. These narrative refinements enrich the emotional texture of the game, allowing both long-standing fans and curious newcomers to experience the profound storytelling that defines the Gundam ethos.

Technical Mastery and Modern Adaptations

On the technical front, Battle Destiny Remastered delivers a polished performance that meets contemporary standards without sacrificing the spirit of its origin. The integration of smoother frame rates, optimized load times, and robust network capabilities ensures a seamlessly immersive experience. Such attention to detail exemplifies how the remaster has been engineered to cater to today’s technologically savvy gamer while preserving the game’s authentic essence.

overall tgg rating

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny Remastered is a testament to what can be achieved when legacy meets innovation. The remaster brilliantly melds classic Gundam storytelling with refined gameplay mechanics, state-of-the-art graphics, and a richly immersive soundscape. While a few minor control quirks and subtle AI inconsistencies prevent absolute perfection, these do little to dim an otherwise outstanding achievement.

Gameplay

I would describe Blue Prince as a roguelike deckbuilding puzzle game. At its simplest form, the objective is to get from one end of the mansion to the other end of the mansion and unlock a door. You have ‘Steps’, your main resource to traverse between rooms as you make your way through the mansion, however these are limited, and the day will automatically end when you run out of steps. There are also other resources you can collect each day however these do not carry over to the next day so each day you’ll have a fresh start. There are however game mechanics that can help in this area. Various puzzles can help by providing resources that will aid your progress, but the biggest help is what you as the player learn about the mansion on each attempt.

The gameplay is very enjoyable; most of the time it’s quite a relaxing experience but as you start to figure things out you can help but find yourself feeling more and more excited. The puzzle difficult scales quite well. They begin with very easy and straightforward, and they increase in difficulty with each successful solve. There are elements of luck involved as rooms have a chance of randomly generating additional resources; the chance of this happening can be affected by things you can do in the game so at some point you’ll have greater control over what happens on a certain attempt.

Whether this next point is a pro or a con will depend on the individual playing – the game doesn’t give you a lot of direction and it is up to you as the player to figure things out. Personally, I am more than fine with this setup in a puzzle game like Blue Prince, however I can

understand that it may be a little off putting for some gamers. The game doesn’t spoon feed you the information but everything you need to know is within the game itself, you just have to find it yourself, as is the nature with puzzle games.

Visuals and Sound

First and foremost, in my playthrough I did not experience a single visual or audio bug. In terms of audio, I have zero negatives to note. The sound design in the game was on point, from walking on different types of flooring and interacting with different objects, to the background music or the absence of it to really emphasise the atmosphere.

I personally really liked the visual design of Blue Prince. The art-style was very aesthetically pleasing that tied in with the tone of the game very well. I think the game would lose its unique charm if the graphics were hyper-realistic. One thing to note is that you won’t know if you can interact with an object until you walk up to it and hover over it with your reticule. Again, like the point about the directions previously, whether this is a pro or a con will depend on the individual playing. It felt a little tedious in the early parts of the game but once you know, you know.

Replayability

Blue Prince definitely lends itself to be replayed multiple times. The title card screen is by no means the end of the game as you will undoubtedly have more secrets and puzzles to unravel. The average main story completion time is around 16 to 20 hours, but you can easily clock 80 to 100 hours if you want to discover

all the secrets and tick it off as a completionist.

Accessibility

Not a great deal of settings let alone accessibility options to change. You can play Blue Prince on mouse and keyboard, as well as

a controller. However the game doesn’t allow you to rebind any buttons. The only Game Control features you can adjust are Mouse/ Look Sensitivity, Field of View, Smooth Look, and Inverting X and Y axis for looking around. There also aren’t any options for colour-blind mode.

overall tgg rating

If you’re a gamer that only plays games like FIFA and COD then I don’t believe this game will be your cup of tea, which is 100% fine. However, if you’re a variety gamer then I highly recommend playing Blue Prince. You can play the game casually as well as deep diving into all the little secrets and puzzles in the game. A nice bonus is that the game is available to play on Xbox Game Pass, although if you do really enjoy the game, I implore you to purchase it to help support the amazing developers!

9/10

Audio

8/10

No complaints with the audio. For the most part the audio sets a nice relaxing atmosphere which ties in with the overall tone of the game. It complimented the gameplay very well with the use of background music as well as using silence to emphasise the atmosphere.

Visuals

9/10

Not groundbreaking visuals but very aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. Everything was crisp and clear; there were zero instances of me as a player being hindered because something was difficult to see or had visually bugged out.

Playability

9/10

Blue Prince has fantastic playability and re-playability. The game is fun and engaging, with an easy learning curve to begin with. The puzzle difficulty ramps up steadily as you the player successfully overcome each one. With so many puzzles and secrets in the game there is no chance a player will be able to unravel all the mysteries in one playthrough. The title card definitely does not spell the end of the game.

Delivery

9/10

The game gives you enough information and instructions to get you started but ultimately leaves the player to their own devices with discovering what certain things do within the game. All the information can be found within the game for the player to discover and piece together. However, the lack of accessibility options does hurt the game a little bit.

Earlier this year, we were invited by Swipe Right to try out the demo for Crimson Desert. Crimson Desert is an open world action adventure, where you step into the continent of Pywel, that is embroiled in war for unprecedented power. You play the character Kliff and his comrades in the Greymanes. You engage in fierce battles with mighty foes, explore the environments of Pywel, and discover secrets that make you stronger.

Gameplay

We were able to try out general battle tactics before we were able to choose a boss to fight against. Each boss is different, with their own mechanics to which you will have to adapt to. For example, the Staglord is a very heavy hitter, and using your stun moves is your best bet against his brutal combos. The fighting mechanics are very much like Souls games in terms of difficulty, but employ the mechanics of traditional fighting games like Tekken, where certain button combinations will give impressive fighting moves.

As expected, this is quite the learning curve. I am not ashamed to admit that I died when doing the initial tutorial, as the game throws you into the midst of an ongoing battle, surrounded by mutliple enemies. The AI of the enemies is extremely responsive, and very punishing, but once you get a hang of how things work, you feel so powerful when you fight back. I opted to fight the Reed Devil, which may have been my first mistake. His mechanics are extremely fast, and involves destroying totems in order to take away his invincibility. I was honeslty not prepared for how fast he was going to be, and it took quite some time for me to figure out his moves, but then I discovered I had explosive arrows, and that made my life a million times easier when fighting him. Overall I really enjoyed the fight!

Environment

Although it was only an hour-long tutorial and was mostly based on the fighting mechanics, I did get to explore the environments a little bit, and I have to say that the game is absolutely beautiful. Before my fight with the Reed Devil, I was able to just take in the vast mountains and fields that I could see in the far distance. I could spot several cities as well, of which I was informed that I would be able to explore to my hearts content. I was unable to gather if this game would be truly open world in the sense that there would be little to no loading screens when venturing through the world, but my hope is that there wouldn't be.

Sound

The sound design in this game is absolutely incredible. The moment I put the headphones on and the demo started, I was fully immersed into the world. The music is amazing, and the voice acting is crystal clear and full of emotion. Kliff comes across as a very hardened man who has been through much, but carries a degree of care in every word he says. He has strong convictions, that's for sure! The voice acting for the bosses is just as amazing. I very much enjoyed the cutscene between Kliff and the Reed Devil before the fight began.

Conclusion

The demo overall was an amazing experience, and I for one can't wait to play the full game! Thank you so much to Swipe Right for inviting us to try out the game, we will most certainly be keeping an eye on it! The game will be officially released this year! We will update with a specific date soon!

Name: MiddleAgedGamerGuy aka MAGG

Pronouns: He/Him

Content Type: Twitch Streamer, Con Organiser, Gameshow Host

Hi MAGG! Thank you very much for taking the time to have a chat with us! How have you been and what have you been up to recently?

My pleasure thanks for having me! I’m good it’s been crazy busy the last few months with attending lots of different events and organising events. I’m currently getting ready for helping run the networking events at Twitch Con Europe as well as being on my first ever panel at that event. Exciting times ahead.

Tell us a little bit about your content creation life? How long have you been doing it, and what made you want to start?

So, it will be my 5 year anniversary in October. Like most people I started during covid, but I started a bit later because I owned a Audio Visual and Events business for 20 years. Which unfortunately went under due to lack of work, covid killed off the events industry for nearly 2 whole years

I started out just streaming anything and then very quickly had the idea of doing a talk show and talking about games. So, I shifted the content towards all new games that were out – just starting on Xbox at first and then I managed to get a PS5, and then into Nintendo and PC gaming. So I literally cover all types of new releases now which is great!

As a Twitch Streamer, what is your favourite bit of tech, software or plugin that helps you do what you do, and why?

It’s got to be my stream deck. I was really fortunate to get an XL in a sale in 2021 and I would be lost without hit because changing scenes, hitting sound effects, playing music, raiding, shoutouts all that stuff I can do with one button press rather than faffing around typing stuff.

What has been your favourite moment being a streamer so far?

I think when I first got asked to be on stage for an event in Norwich back in 2023 and I was like, “people know who I am?”. It was a weird experience because I’m not a big-name streamer, but I had people wanting selfies and autographs – which to this day still feels odd.

Luckily when I’m at the bigger events nobody knows who I am so I can leave that to the professionals! But I got to share the stage with some huge youtubers and creators from not just the UK but the US as well, who I’m still friends with to this day.

If you had to do it all over again, what advice would you give to the MAGG that was first starting out?

Whatever you do – don’t stream 11 times a week. God knows why I thought that was a good idea. Obviously, I was bored due to covid times but I was doing 2 streams a day sometimes and kept that up for nearly 2 years which is insane. I only do 3 – 4 streams a week now if that – Nobody should ever do that much.

Along with streaming new game releases, you also host game shows on your channel. Can you tell us more about this? Can anyone participate?

Yeah so, I host a show called Tuesday Night Gaming Chat (TNGC) on Twitch. We have done over 200+ shows and we have had some amazing content creators, gaming journalists, a few gaming and TV celebs as well so I count myself very lucky that its grown into something much bigger. We basically cover new games that have been out that week and the latest gaming news and have a bit of fun with it trying to guess the review scores along with the audience and my guests. Its 100% my favourite stream that I do because I’m so passionate about it.

You also interview a variety of different guests on your streams, from game developers to content creators. Which interview has been the most memorable for you so far?

So, for me personally I was super happy to have Mike Channel from Outside Xbox on the show in December 2023. I’ve been a huge fan of their YouTube channel since it started over 12 years ago and this was a dream come true to have

him on the show. But we have also had some other great guests and there’s been some really funny shows where somebody’s said something, and we’ve all been in stitches. One show this year we featured a game called Big Helmet Heroes. My co-host Dave said ‘get all your big helmets together’ and me and our guest Musoliasla completely lost it. I couldn’t stop laughing for like 5 minutes.

How much preparation and research go into each interview? Do you provide the questions to your guests ahead of time to have them vetted or do they jump into the interview blind?

So, I probably spend about 8 hours a week on each show – we have a full list of games that are out that week.

Dave and I narrow that down to 8 and we try and have a good mix of VR, indie triple AAA etc, then I research all the reviews to get the scores for the guessing game. I read a ton of news articles and do research and pick out 5 news stories for that week. Then obviously do a bit of research on whoever our guest is. When we first started it used to take me days to prepare but on a good day I can get it down to 4 - 8 hours over a week now.

As well as being a streamer, you’re also the founder and organiser for Timeless Gaming Convention. How long has it been going, and what made you want to start up your own con?

So Timeless is in its 4th year now and this one will be our biggest yet. The idea was given to me and one of the founders back in 2022 when EGX Birmingham was scrapped and E3 was pulled, and they said, ‘you could put on an event instead’. So we found a venue which was Arcade Club and 4 months later put on our first event for 150 people and it grew from there. In 2022 one of the founders left and we put together a new team and Timeless just started to grow as we got 250 people at our next event, and then last year’s event was our biggest success with 650 people. I think the thing was it was never about trying to make money it was about bringing people together because we’ve lost so many great gaming events over the last 2-3 years and gamers have nowhere to go. This hit even more hard last year with the death of Insomnia and I’ve had people coming up to me thanking me for giving them one day a year where they can make new friends, meet people they haven’t seen in ages, and bringing gaming communities together. Just that alone makes it worthwhile and I never want to move away

from that community environment.

What have you enjoyed most about the Timeless cons you have put on?

It’s mainly just seeing the people. We’ve had some amazing guests and we’ve been very fortunate with who we have booked over the years BUT seeing all these people having fun and playing games together just makes me smile. The effort that all the cosplayers go to is just on another level and even though I’m running around all day organising stuff or I’m on stage, it’s all worth it just to see all these happy gamers having an amazing time.

The next Timeless Gaming Convention will be on the 13th of August 2025. What can we expect to see and experience from this event?

So firstly, we’ve moved to our new home of Liverpool as we’ve not outgrown our first venue. So, a different layout, more accessible for everyone, easier to get to with great transport links. We can offer discounted hotels for the first time ever. And then obviously the line-up. We manged to get What Culture at the event which is amazing. The wonderful Ash Millman from PlayStation Access and the Horror Game

Awards. The lads from Did You Know Gaming. Plus, we have Slopes Game Room Quiz returning and the wonderful Ashens is back for a 2nd time. We’ve added a VIP night where we have special Guest Jason Bradbury doing a special Q&A and test screening of his new film. Plus, our tomb raider 1-6 panel and more panels to be announced. As well as over 300+ arcade machines and consoles to play free. The return of the challenge stage where you can win some amazing prizes and some brilliant traders at the event. There’s lots more to announce but I don’t want to give any secrets away.

What is the dream for Timeless Gaming Convention? What do you envision Timeless becoming?

So this year we are striving to get 1000 people to the event but the new venue allows us to grow even bigger so in a few years’ time it would be fantastic if we were the go to number 1 gaming event in the UK. The one where everyone wants to be at, but still keep that sense of community but add even more areas and additions to the event.

The UK gaming convention scene has suffered over the past few years, with events like EGX merging with MCM Comic Con, and events like ‘Insomnia The Gaming Festival’ and ‘WASD’ shutting down. What do you think has contributed to the decline of gaming events in the UK?

I think the whole E3 thing kicked that off to be fair. Once gaming companies and publishers realised, they didn’t have to spend thousands on thousands on expensive showcases and exhibition spaces and that it could be all done online that just started a new trend. They could do it themselves for a smidge of the cost. This had a knock-on effect for lots of gaming events but the UK ones especially as they are nowhere on the scale of the ones in Europe or the US. I also think there was decisions made by the owners of some of the above-mentioned events that were a little bit dubious and that led to their downfall as well.

The other big factor is lack of sponsors. Without sponsorships, events like this can’t run as the costs for venues and space alone are astronomical. As a lot of gaming companies are cutting back they are less likely to sponsor shows like they did before covid. Shows that were once rammed and now are a former shadow of themselves.

When you’re not busy streaming or organising a con, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Not that I have much spare time lol. I love going to gigs because of my former background but also just attending other gaming events and supporting them. Last year I attended over 20 different events which is the most I’ve ever done. So it’s a kind of a busman’s holiday for me.

In no particular order, what would you consider to be your top 3 games as of this moment and why?

Top 3 games of all time: Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed 2 Brotherhood, and Alan Wake 2.

Top 3 games of this year so far: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Split Fiction, and South of Midnight.

What is your earliest memory of experiencing gaming?

So my parents had an Atari 2600 they bought in 1977 two years before I was born. I remember playing on it when I was like 5 years old. PONG with the paddles, Combat with the bouncing bullets and Yars Revenge were some of my favourites. It was good to see the Atari make a resurgence in the 90s and then again last year. I still have that console to this day with about 50 games for it!

Do you have any guilty pleasure games you love playing but your friends and/or community tease you for liking?

Not really but I’ve had the community make me play some very bizarre games that are for little kids. Like Bluey, Paw Patrol & Peppa Pig (good for 100% achievements or platinum trophies though). The one everyone is trying to get me to play for last 3 years is Horse Tales, that game looked truly awful but they are adamant it’s going to happen.

Are there any upcoming games in 2025 that you are excited to play and/or stream?

Doom The Dark Ages was top of my list. Mafia The Old Country as I’m a big fan of those games. I’m actually excited for Borderlands 4 even though no one else seems to be and a game from Devolver Digital called Baby Steps that looks hilarious.

Are there any events, anywhere in the world, you would love to attend as an invited streamer/ content creator?

Next two on my list would be Gamescom but I can never go cause it’s so close to Timeless (and I’m exhausted after doing that) but maybe one year I can go! And I’ve never been to PAX East / West as they are the equivalent of what EGX used to be back in the early noughties so it would be great to go back to a big non-industry gaming event again as EGX has unfortunately massively downsized from what it was 10 years ago.

Finally, is there anything you are currently working or have coming up that you’d like to or are allowed to share with our readers?

So as mentioned I’ll be working at Twitch Con so come say hi! We have the next Manchester Twitch meet up in July. Obviously Timeless in August and then we will be running stuff at this year’s Format in October for 3 days. So if you are at any of those events come and say hi!

And that’s it! Thank you very much again for taking the time to have this interview with us, it’s been an absolute pleasure.

We wish you all the best in the future!
