T
his hockey season has been full of tears. Tears of heartbreak losing two men we considered part of our Fernie Minor Hockey family, Wayne and Lloyd. Tears and expressions of love for their families. Tears and messages of love for Jason and his family. Tears of gratitude when the Elk Valley Minor Hockey Association called to offer to share their ice with us. Tears of gratitude for the Calgary Flames foundation, Chuck and the Lions Club and all the businesses and services who donated to the outdoor ice surface. We can’t thank you all enough. It is in times of tragedy that we are tested most. I’m so incredibly proud of my fellow board members and our parents, coaches, managers and officials who have picked up the pieces and persevered to keep the kids playing the game we all love. Watching our kids set out for their first skate on the outdoor ice, Ghostrider jerseys proudly worn, faces bright and smiling brought tears of joy and healing. he EVMHA has had a great start to the 2017/2018 season. We were able to put forth 10 teams this season including two initiation, two pre novice, two novice, two atom, a peewee and a midget team. We would like to thank our members including our volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, managers, safety people and parents for their hard work and dedication. The success of the EVMHA can be largely attributed to these people. We all play a part in making hockey a positive experience for the players! Elk Valley Minor Hockey Association Executive Committee
