The cold winter air filled the sky that surrounds us as we walked on the trail up to the tower, High up on the trail which made looking down a wonderful sight Oh how the breeze brought a chill to our bones as it blows around While the trees rustle in the wind As the sun warms us ever so slightly, though it shines so bright, Bright enough to make shadows from afar With the bushes and rivers in the distance below And the houses and buildings ever farther away As we hike to the top To the tower we go Though the path up and over the branches and sticks With the many uphill climbs to the tower that you learn is not open But knowing what you know you made it to the top With the feeling of accomplishment as you sit on the small stone wall Which makes your feet start to feel the hard days climb As you sit at the top eating an almond or two Talking to your cousins and laughing the day away
