ANTHEM – A couple hundred Boulder Creek High School (BCHS) students gathered outside in the campus courtyard to participate in the national March For Our Lives school walkout on March 14, which was organized to protest gun violence and to honor the victims of the Florida shooting. 2018 Anthem Days is almost here ANTHEM – Residents and visitors from across the Valley will enjoy perfect weather and the premier showcase of the community at Anthem Days from March 24 to 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day at the Community Park located at 41703 N. Peoria Fire-Medical rescues teens stranded on water PEORIA – On the afternoon of March 15, Peoria FireMedical was dispatched on a possible drowning call at Lake Pleasant. The initial information was two individuals went overboard on a kayak and their whereabouts were unknown. Three teenagers, two females and a male, each approximately 19-years-old, went out on three kayaks earlier in the afternoon. The waters were choppy with a 15 to 20 mile an hour winds in the area.

The kayaks of two of the teens were overturned by the waves and wind. Neither teen was wearing a lifejacket. The third teen, a 19-year-old female, was able to stay in her kayak. The boats were quickly swept away from the victims by the rough choppy water. The teen remaining in the boat could no longer see the other two in the water and
