BLACK CANYON CITY – Emergency crews responded to a fire on the evening of Saturday, May 27, at the C and S auto salvage yard; that fire was contained to about five acres. Later that same night, crews were dispatched to the same area and encountered a larger, fast-moving fire that was spreading quickly due to high winds and available fuel. The fire, called the Joe’s Hill Fire, necessitated the precautionary evacuation of approximately 20 nearby residents. The Joe’s Hill Fire burned over 50 acres and destroyed up to six structures in the area. No injuries have been reported from the fire. Details of the damages sustained are not yet available.
