CAVE CREEK – Downtown Cave Creek brings more than just people watching. If you have ever spent time on a patio at one of the town’s restaurants or bars during peak-season, then you would know that the animal watching is second-to-none in the Valley. Horses, donkeys, hogs – albeit the motorized ones, and of course man’s bestfriend, dogs, are all prevalent on the main drag. Carefree, Cave Creek approve cost-sharing trolley proposal TARA ALATORRE STAFF
CAVE CREEK – Residents and visitors of the towns Carefree and Cave Creek can expect a new trolley public transportation system; on Nov. 6, the Cave Creek Town Council approved sharing the costs with Carefree. The trolley is expected to run on the weekends starting this December, and will operate through April, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., linking the two business communities during the high-peak tourism season, according to the official proposal submitted to the towns.
Carefree and Cave Creek agreed to each pay one third of the operating costs of the trolley, which is not to exceed $11,000, with the remaining third of the cost to be paid through sponsoring and advertising from local businesses. The estimated cost of the trolley is $33,000, for 440 operating hours, for five months, which includes fuel, a professional uniformed driver, an on-duty mechanic, and $5 million in liability insurance. The remaining funding This map of the proposed trolley route was included in the Nov. 6 Cave Creek Council meeting agenda. The towns of Cave Creek and Carefree have approved a cost-sharing proposal for a trolley.
