North Phoenix developer’s Fighting hunger, finding hope: zoning amendment Foothills Empty Bowls set for Oct. 20 request approved TARA ALATORRE STAFF
PHOENIX – A North Phoenix Developer received approval from the City of Phoenix on Oct. 4 to amend commercial-zoned property to residential, paving the way for over 200 new homes near the northeast corner of the eastside I-17 Frontage Road and Circle Mountain Road. New Hamburg Land Company requested that Phoenix amend the general plan so that its approximately 69-acre plot could be turned into residential dwellings, which would add about 250 homes to the area. The developer
was given the green light from the planning and zoning commission on Sept. 7, at its meeting, and recommended that the city council approve the request, according to public records. Most of the plots located within the 69-acre plot are within the city limits of Phoenix, which means they would receive municipal water and trash services. However, there are a few plots that reside outside of Phoenix city limits, and the developer is requesting that the

CAREFREE – The third annual Enchanted Pumpkin Garden is set to open Friday, Oct. 20, in downtown Carefree.
