An urban wanderer, an explorer, a dandy-ish connoisseur of the street. He or she is a painter of modern life, someone interested in the gastronomy of the eye.
The spirit of cultivated curiosity, worldliness, and generous hospitality lives on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 28th Street.
The story begins inside a grand Gilded Age mansion and carriage house, rich in treasures from the East and home to Ms. Charlotte Goodridge. Throughout the late 19th century, the address 250 Fifth Avenue was synonymous with her receptions and musicals—much-anticipated highlights of New York’s social season.
By 1907 the building was sold and a new vision of 250 Fifth Avenue emerged: a five-story Renaissance palazzo designed by the nowlegendary McKim, Mead & White, architects of the Washington Square Arch, The Brooklyn Museum, and many other quintessential New York spaces. The building served as The Second National Bank before becoming home to The Fifth.
