Humber’s athletic director to retire after 35 years After 35 years and countless team titles and victories as a “legendary” Humber Hawk, Doug Fox announced his retirement as athletic director at Humber College last week. “My time at Humber has been so special to me, both professionally and personally,” Fox said in a statement announcing his retirement effective Aug. 31. “The relationships I have developed with the staff and coaches will stay with me forever, just as the athletes and the memories they have provided me with by way of their success and commitment to the Hawk Family”. HIGH HONOURS After being named the Un i v e r s i t y o f To r o n t o’s Basketball Athlete of the Decade for the ’70s, Fox accepted the role of men’s basketball coach for the Humber Hawks in 1978. The following year, he was brought on full time to oversee the new Humber Athletic Centre, and then went on to be one of the most successful athletic directors in the country.
