Young Etobicoke women aged 13 to 19 are invited to take part in next month’s First Annual Girls Power Leadership Conference – a free, one-day event featuring special guest motivational speakers, a fashion show and a chance to get involved. Organized by My Sister and Me – a local mentoring program for girls – the Girls Power Leadership Conference will take place on Saturday, May 11 at Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School, 1760 Martin Grove Rd. from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. INAUGURAL CONFERENCE This year’s inaugural conference, said organizer Aisha Addo, will be the first of its kind within the community – tackling the issues that teenage girls face in society by creating a dialogue among young conference participants and their communities. “The idea for the conference came from my own experiences as a teenager. Multiple arrests made for stunt driving Seven of 11 arrests from April 19 to 22 made in Etobicoke Toronto police held a news conference this week in reaction to the “unprecedented” spike in stunt driving on the city’s roadways over the weekend – and of the 11 arrests made between Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22, seven of them
occurred in Etobicoke. “Over the past weekend, officers of this service encountered a number of individuals who were travelling on our roadways and selfishly and without respect for all road users, flagrantly abusing the rules of the
road,” Acting Supt. Gord Jones of Toronto Police Traffic Services said a media briefing at police headquarters on Tuesday. “Some of these incidents involve speeds that were extreme – some as high as 85 kilometres an hour over the
