Police looking for specific witness in murder case

CYNTHIA REASON creason@insidetoronto.com Police appealed Monday to a specific witness to come forward in the murder investigation of 33-year-old Edwin Villon, who was found shot in the head on an Etobicoke street in September. Officers from 23 Division responded to a call for unknown trouble outside 11 Midden Cres. (in the area of Martin Grove Road and The Westway) at around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. Once on the scene, officers found Villon’s lifeless body, as well as a portion of a damaged hubcap “with distinctive aftermarket rims with a unique emblem” they believe came off the vehicle driven by the shooting suspect. “Since that time, we’ve learned the following: shortly before or at the time of his death Mr. Villon had the care of a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder with very distinctive wheel rims and tires. And when Mr. Villan was shot, the suspect drove that 1998 Pathfinder from the area,” Det.-Sgt. Pauline Gray told media at Monday’s press conference at 23 Division. Two days later, the Pathfinder was found set ablaze in the city’s northeast end in 42 Division.
