Greetings!, I'm Theertha PS, a graduate architect, who recieved the Bachelor of Architecture degree, from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala, India. I am a passionate architect and I am eager to embark on my professional journey. Through my work, I aim to create spaces that are fluid to human experiences and emotions -spaces that inspire, uplift, and nurture the well-being of individuals and communities, at the same time optimizing spatial efficiency and sustainability . Inspired by the infinite possibilities of architecture, I'm excited to bring my creativity, skills, and enthusiasm to a dynamic team. I'm looking for a challenging role that allows me to explore innovative design solutions, foster sustainable practices, and create meaningful spaces that inspire and connect people and nature.

ïProject : Academic 10th semester, Thesis

Raghurajpur, a �ny village in Puri district of Odisha was declared as India’s 1rst heritage village in the year 2000 a�er a couple of years of research and documenta�on. The village is home to the tradi�onal Pa�achitra ar�sts whose roots can be traced back to 5th century BC. It is also home to the famous Go�pura dance troupes, the precursor to classical Odisha dance form Odissi. This village is also boasts of as the birthplace of a handful of luminaries in art led like Padma vibhu shan Kelucharan Mahapatra, the gi�ed proponent of Classical dance. Situated amidst groves of coconut, palm, mango and jack fruit, the main village has two streets with over 120 houses, most decorated with mural pain�ngs, where the painters reside and prac�ce their pa�achitra cra�, besides many other that prac�ces throughout the village, including tradi�onal masks, stone idols, papier mache, sculp tures, wooden toys.Most of the houses in this village are of tradi�onal architecture and around 200 years old. Frequent floods and cyclones exposed this handicap that made the villagers suscep�ble to natural disasters.since these villagers sustain and propogate one of the ancient art forms of the world it is of paramount importance to protect and nurture them and their art.

The project aims to upli� the ar�san community of Raghurajpur heritage village through skill developement and training facili�es,mu seum, Ar�san friendly spaces, community centre, cra� hub, therby promo�ng pa�achitra ar�orm and ar�sans.

The site comes under the India’s first Heritage village recognized by INTACH and UNICEF.

The living area of the typical floor plan has visual connec�vity to the double highted planted balcony through the glass door. The sea�ng area of the living room is adjacent to the balcony and faces the TV space which creates an illusion and blurs the line between indoor and outdoor seamlessly. The doors of the bedrooms are hidden from the entry into the apartment and are only visible when the visitors move further in. The duplex has stairs running through the inside of the flat and open into the upper living area. The party area in the terrace also has pools and jacuzzi, gathering spaces, an area for catering , small shaded stage and sea�ng area. The pargola in the terrace acts as shading device in the sea�ng, catering and stage area. The sea�ng area is intervened by planters that adds to the quality of spaces. The facade has brick cladding and is lined with silver strips to make it visually appealing.The circular pillars and the planters that act as handrail, the ver�cal strips in between the structural columns further adds interest to the facade and makes it aesthe�cally appealing.

The site is a backwater facing site providing a huge poten�al for different amne�es as well as a beau�ful viewfor the residents.The site was divided into 10 plots for each house.The residen�al plots are interrupted by open green space providing area forgathering, enhancing the social life of the residents. The masterplan was designed ensuring privacy to each house. The row houses facing each other lined on either side of a 8m wide private road, the visual connec�vity is par�ally restricted by the planters that divide the road. Even though the houses look similar from outside the plan is customised for the 10 families according to the family size, occupa�on and ac�vi�es.This enhances the func�onality and comfort of the residents.

Every house has a shaded car parking. The entry into the living area is through a sitout and a foyer. In the post covid era the families preffered having powder room in the etrance itself so that the visitors could sani�ze before moving to the living room. The dining area is double highted. The open kitchen and living rooms are divided by a small courtyard that gives only par�al vision into the kitchen. 3 and 4 BHK houses are provided depending on the family size.

During my internship at Environmental Crea�ons headed by Ar. TM Cyriac, I had the opportunity to work on a cap�va�ng 1-storey house project that showcased a perfect blend of natural materials, rus�c charm, and though�ul si�ng .The building is nestled on a gently sloping site, which was wisely preserved to maintain the natural topography. This deliberate design decision not only reduced the environmental impact of the construc�on process but also created a unique, organic rela�onship between the building and its surroundings.

The exterior façade of the house features a striking stone face, with rough-hewn stones arranged in a though�ul, handcra�ed pa�ern. The stone's natural texture and earthy tones create a warm, invi�ng atmosphere, while also providing excellent thermal mass and durability

The roof is adorned with tradi�onal clay �les, carefully arranged to create a subtle, layered effect. The clay �les' warm, terraco�a hue complements the stone façade perfectly, while also providing excellent insula�on and weather resistance

Karamana is a dis�nc�ve mel�ng pot where Malayali and Tamil cultures intermingle while preserving their unique iden��es.The Tamil Brahmins, Vishwakarmas, and Che�ars who se�led in Karamana genera�ons ago form a substan�al part of the local trading community. Although their influence has been significant, it has been somewhat overshadowed by Karamana’s increasing commercial importance, partly due to its proximity to Chalai.

The Karamana River has played a crucial role in shaping the locality, with numerous canals, known locally as “mada,” documentedinhistoricalrecords.Asamajorse�lementalong the river, the origin of the name “Karamana” is subject to various interpreta�ons. A prevalent myth suggests that it derives from a Brahmin house(mana) located on the riverbank.

Karamana, a vibrant suburb in Thiruvananthapuram, is a microcosm of diverse cultures and tradi�ons. It is home to the scenic Karamana River, origina�ng from Agasthya Hill, a body of water rich in cultural, religious, and historic significance. The area’s Brahmin se�lements spread across 18 streets, interwoven with various communi�es that enhance the locale’s dynamic cultural fabric.

The illustrious legacy of temples like Sree Kamakshi Amman Ekambareswarar and Satyavageeswara is evident through the grand celebra�ons of fes�vals such as Thaipooyam, Shivaratri, and Navaratri, drawing crowds from across the district. The Kolams drawn at dawn reflect the con�nua�on of tradi�onal prac�ces, while the forgo�en art of Golu doll making and the resurgence of Sanskrit, India’s ancient language, highlight thearea’s rich cultural heritage. Karamana is also strategically located along Na�onal Highway 66, Kerala’s major trade and travel corridor, linking it to the Central Business Districts of Thiruvananthapuram. The suburb’s commercial sectors and educa�onal ins�tu�ons further contribute to its iden�ty as an intrinsic part of the city.
