Khalid's Korner Bipolar 101

I'm very glad that many of you all got a glimpse of what us clinicians know as Bipolar disorder and what it looks like based on the former hit Fox series Empire and played skillfully by actor Trai Byers (aka Andre Lyons), and here are some facts about the disorder. Get the facts and get the help Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks. Symptoms of bipolar disorder are severe. They are different from the normal ups and downs that everyone goes through from time to time.

Bipolar disorder symptoms can result in damaged relationships, poor job or school performance, and even suicide. But bipolar disorder can be treated, and people with this illness can lead full and productive lives. Genetics-Bipolar disorder tends to run in families. Some research has suggested that people with certain genes are more likely to develop bipolar disorder than others.

Children with a parent or sibling who has bipolar disorder are much more likely to develop the illness, compared with children who do not have a family history of bipolar disorder. However, most children with a family history of bipolar disorder will not develop the illness.

Signs & Symptoms

People with bipolar disorder experience unusually intense emotional states that occur in distinct periods called "mood episodes." Each mood episode represents a drastic change from a person’s usual mood and behavior.

An overly joyful or overexcited state is called a manic episode, and an extremely sad or hopeless state is called a depressive episode. Sometimes, a mood episode includes symptoms of both mania and depression. This is called a mixed state.

People with bipolar disorder also may be explosive and irritable during a mood episode. Bipolar disorder often develops in a person's late teens or early adult years. At least half of all cases start before age 25. Some people have their first symptoms during childhood, while others may develop symptoms late in life.

AboutMicheal ‘Radical Allen’ Wright is not only a radio personality, but also the proud owner of Hit USA Radio. With a background coming from radio stations like WKKC, Power 104, WZAK 92.3 WGCR FM, and WYAM JAMMAMERICA and working alongside radio icons like Doug Banks, Herb Kent, LaDonna Tittle, and Marv Dyson, Radical Allen decided to take his experience to build his own radio station.

Allen understood one important benefit of owning an internet based radio station was that it would be free from some of the rigid rules, regulations, and protocols of his traditional AM/FM radio station competitors.

Coretta

In 2019, Micheal made the decision to take the Hit USA Radio brand to another level by hiring TW Marketing to assist him with marketing the radio station. The collaborative efforts of both companies turned out to be a huge success, resulting in impressive brand growth and exposure for the brand. Hit USA Radio has reached over 1 Million users on Facebook and Instagram, catalyzing a change in how the country listens to music forever.

The success of Hit USA Rado has opened the doors of opportunity for Micheal and those he works with, showcasing up and coming musical artists, and growing the businesses of local entrepreneurs through effective and affordable advertising options. Hit USA Radio is also an award-winning organization, recently receiving the 312 Music Award.

Hit USA Radio has been compared to radio giants like iHeart Radio due to the quality of brand presence the station brings to every event, advertisement, and show presented. What sets Hit USA Radio apart from its competitors like iHeart Radio is the unique programming it brings to its listeners. Micheal’s number one priority in planning the programming for Hit USA radio not only focuses on the top 40 hits of the year, but also a mixture of classic hip-hop, jazz, neo-soul, and R & B for old school listeners to enjoy around the world.

Today, the Hit USA Radio brand has reached over 1 Million U.S. listeners annually, not including their global reach with over 50K listeners world wide outside of the U.S.
