Alumnae the Elm Leaf. Her two daughters, Ann ‘12 and Margaret ’14 (Maggie) are lifers at the Elms just like their mother, Aunts, and Grandmother were. In addition, to her two daughters, Nancy has three dogs. Simba the Wonder Dawg, Casper the Friendly Dawg, and Wrigley the Mutt Dawg! Joseph Gardner ’86 is a member of the Histology Society of Ohio. He recently won a contest sponsored by the National Histology Society to design this year’s t-shirts that will be featured at their National Convention that is being held in Cincinnati, Ohio this September. Joe’s winning design features a microtome and ribbon with the State of Ohio. His prize package also includes a one year membership in the National Histology Society, tickets to the National Convention and his choice of workshops. Congratulations on your winning design. Wendy Drowns Miskowich ’87 has worked for Hennessy Construction for the past 20 years as a project manager for commercial construction. She has one daughter - Justine - nine years old. Lisa Loeffler Maddux ’89 writes “I completed a sprint triathlon August 20th (swim a quarter-mile, bike 16 miles, run 5k) It is the third time I’ve done it, although I took the last two years off after having my second daughter in October 2009. I’m not the fastest by any means, but it was my personal best and I managed to run the whole 5k instead of walking a lot like in previous years. My eight-year old will take part in her fourth kids’ triathlon in September.” Lisa and her husband, Jason, and daughters live in Portage, Wisconsin. Erin McCluskey Oley ’94 received her B.A. in Anthropology/PreMedicine (University of Notre Dame), M.A. Exercise Physiology (The Ohio State University), M.S.N. Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner (The Ohio State University), and is working toward a DNP - Doctorate of Nursing Practice (expected May 2012 - University of Colorado Denver). She writes “I work as a nurse practitioner in Red Lodge, Montana and mom to three children - two boys and one girl.” Jodie Rufus Bilgere ’96 has been traveling with her husband, George and taking German lessons in Berlin this past summer. While there she met up with Maegan Gorbett ‘96 and her husband whom she met while studying in Amsterdam. They live in Berlin where her husband has started his own computer company. Jodie and Meagan have spent many pleasant meals together in Berlin with another fellow classmate, Nnenna Ofobike, who is also in Berlin with her husband who is stationed there. Jodie›s mom, OLE high school teacher Nancy Rufus writes “They have enjoyed the special camaraderie of having someone from back home, it has been a wonderful support system to them all. As a parent ,I was especially glad to hear this, to know that there was someone close by for my daughter if she needed help.” Heather Lee Mize ’97 and her husband, Curtis, welcomed their first child William Curtis Mize on July 5, 2011. They are living in Shaker Heights. Christine O’Shaughnessy Madrigal ‘98 writes “On August 18, 2010 we welcomed our second son, Elijah Manuel Madrigal. Our first son Zackariah Miguel who is three years old, is thrilled to be a big brother. I currently work for the Akron Public Schools and just finished my Masters of Education degree in reading specialization from Kent State this past May.” 24

Alison McIntyre ’00 who currently lives in Akron and is a residential real estate agent with Stouffer Realty in Fairlawn will be getting married September 30, 2011 to Chris Barenek. Ariane (Petersen) May ‘01 married Joseph May on May 29, 2010 at Germantown Presbyterian Church in Germantown, TN. Alexa (Petersen) Warndorf ‘98 served as her matron of honor. Ariane is a registered Professional Engineer in Tennessee and Mississippi. She is employed as a Traffic Engineer with a consulting engineering firm in Hernando, MS. The couple resides in Germantown, TN. Lindsay Britts ’04 writes, “I graduated in December from Vancouver Film School with a diploma in Writing for Film and TV. I hope to be in LA in the near future to find work as a television writer.” Meghan Gillette Siefer ’04 was married to John Siefer on June 10th, 201.1 They are currently living in Kent. Meghan is the dance teacher at the Elms. Anne Dye Zakrajsek ’06 writes “I graduated from Purdue University in May 2010 with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. I was a Member of Senior Design Team which won the 1st place Malott Innovation Award for designing a material that inexpensively promotes bone growth and prevents bed sores. In July 2010, I married my best friend(!) Andrew Zakrajsek, whom I met sophomore year in engineering classes at Purdue. My maids of honor were Nina DeSantis (‘06) and Lauren Jones (‘06). In August 2011, I graduated from Purdue University with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering focusing in biomechanics. My Master’s Degree was funded by the Alfred E. Mann Institute for Biomedical Engineering at Purdue. As a research assistant, I worked on the development of a novel padding material for football helmets. My thesis was titled: “Design of Microand Macro-Scale Impact Mitigating Material Toward the Development of Helmet Padding Design Criteria. In August 2011, I won the Bilsland Strategic Initiative Fellowship for a proposal to implement a Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology program at Purdue and began pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Currently, my husband Andrew is working on his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in blast wave mitigation and will graduate in May 2012. I am continuing coursework and research towards my PhD.” Natalie Bodnar ‘06 graduated from John Carroll University in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. She is currently a second year medical student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. Annamaria Easley ‘07 graduated in May from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She will be returning to school this fall to become a certified midwife.
