I am looking forward to unveiling the plinth marking the start of the Eastbourne Village mosaic walkway at 11am on 12 April and then continuing on to the Eastbourne Village Art Expo. It’s an open invitation and I hope to see many of you there. Huge congratulations to artists Nancy Barclay and Ellen Giggenbach, and many thanks to the generosity of the sponsors. Murray Gibbons has been the project manager on this and has worked hard to bring the project to fruition, thank you Murray for this and other work including your service on the Community Board. You have a fantastic Community Board in Eastbourne with a great vision for a vibrant village. Council’s Urban Design team has enjoyed working with them. The Race to the Sea sculpture, the walkway to the wharf and now the beautiful mosaic walkway all connect the village centre to the landscape, and create an appealing village centre. A reminder about consultation on our Long Term Plan 2015-2025. It’s important to us to get the community’s input, consultation will run through April. The last of our four key strategies is also out for consultation in April. The Infrastructure Strategy 2015-2025 is about ensuring infrastructure is resilient, fit for purpose, affordable and meets the needs of today without compromising future needs. Both of these documents will be available from the beginning of April from any City library, Council’s website or by contacting Council. Please take the time to have a read and give us your thoughts.
