Every year Patricia out does herself. We appreciate all the work you put into this event. You make it so special for us. Thanks to Al for being your assistant. Mahalo Nui Loa... Sept. 27th will be our wear your football colors or shirt. Laurie will be our host and Referee. I am sure she will be in her ASU colors. She will be serving snacks. Watch for her email. Out to Lunch for Sept. we went to our “Diamond in the Rough”...Dobson Ranch Restaurant . The Staff is so friendly and the food is good. Try it for breakfast, lunch or dinner...especially before the snowbirds flock back. Oct. 5th will be our next Out to Lunch. It will be at Flancers in Tempe. RSVP with Chris. Remember we will be supporting the Halloween Spooktacular on Fri. the 19th..let me know if you can help...Thx. Both Liz and Elaine are healing...keep them in your thoughts...it has been a long road to recovery. Blessings, Patty
Fishing Club By Ed Ricci
It’s the Dog Days of Summer, but we’re still catching fish. Fishing is slower, but there is a half decent bite at night. Catfish love stink bait. Bass are being caught on artificial baits including plastic worms. The big news is the upcoming Kid’s Fishing Tournament at Lake 1 on Saturday, October 6. This is an awesome event which was attended by over 100 children last year. We have a large stock tank filled with bluegill and cut off fishing poles for the little kids. We set up a tourney in the lake for the bigger kids, and we get loaner rods from Arizona Game & Fish. We look forward to seeing you there!

Pictured in the shade is our sturdy group of Monday “INTERCLUB” players who showed up in numbers through the heat of summer to keep pickleball alive and very real on the The Ranch! At times we had 20 players battling for the glory of a win before retreating to our large shade tree on the east side of the courts to catch their breath, re-hydrate, and socialize. There was a lot of socializing, but we always got some great games in and a breakfast or two! There are not many tournaments to compete in without major travel, but we did have a number of our players win medals in high-country tournaments over the summer. With things cooling down, plans are underway to revive attendance and re-ignite regular play on Tuesday night, Thursday and Saturday mornings in mid-September. On October 1st we will go to winter hours, starting at 8am. Beginners are welcome anytime, but we are going to devote Thursdays to “Skills and Drills”, which will be a combination of advanced players wanting to practice and residents who just prefer to play. We will have advanced players there ready to help beginners learn the game. New players can come out anytime and we will have paddles and be prepared to introduce you to the game. Just be sure to wear good court shoes, comfortable clothing and try to let us know of any other needs so we can be prepared to get things going for you. As always, remember Dobson’s 6 courts at the Los Altos Community Center are available to residents and their guests anytime between 7 am and 10 pm daily, another great benefit of living here!
