Who’s Opening and Where Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) will open a Nordstrom store at City Creek Center, a mixed-use project under development on 23 acres in Salt Lake City, UT. The store, along with Macy’s, will anchor the retail section of the project, which will also feature office and residential components. The project is slated to open during March, with tenants including 77kids, BCBG, Bose, Brooks Brothers, Coach, Cotton On, The Limited, L’Occitane, Love Culture, Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, Michael Kors, N3L Optics, Pandora, Papayrus, Porsche Design, Swarovski, Texas de Brazil, Tiffany & Co., TUMI and Yankee Candle Co. The company also plans to open a 35,000 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack store in Manchester, MO. The store is slated to open next fall and will be the company’s second in the greater St. Louis, MO area. The company currently operates 219 locations nationwide throughout 29 states, including 116 fullline Nordstrom stores, 99 Nordstrom Rack locations, two Jeffrey boutiques and one clearance store. Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, Ltd. (512219-5408) will open a 31,000 sq.ft. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at Aspen Grove Shopping Center in Littleton, CO. The movie theater, also offering dinner and drinks, will be the company’s first in the state and is slated to open by fall 2012. The company also plans to open an eight-screen location at the intersection of Slaughter Lane and MoPac Expressway in South Austin, TX. The theater, which will be known as Alamo Slaughter Lane, will feature a cocktail lounge and a microcinema – a 34seat theater with a large screen – as well as a test kitchen for the company to introduce new menu items and specials. The location is slated to open early next year. Target Corp. (612-304-6073) will open a Target at the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and Aberdeen Street in the West Loop area of Chicago, IL. The store will feature a full grocery department as well as a pharmacy, a health clinic and an in-store Starbucks location. The store is slated to open during June of next year. The company currently operates more than 1,700 locations nationwide. Publix Super Markets, Inc. (863-688-1188) will open a 45,600 sq.ft. Publix supermarket in a former Winn-Dixie at Boynton Lakes Plaza, a 117,000 sq.ft. neighborhood shopping center located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Hypoluxo Road in Boynton Beach, FL. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) will open a 160,000 sq.ft. Walmart Supercenter at the intersection of M-66 and Morgan Road in Pennfield Township, MI. Construction on the project was originally slated to begin during August, but has been delayed for 12 to 18 months due to the poor economy. The opening will be the company’s second in the Battle Creek, MI area. The company also plans to open a store in a former Sam’s Club along Second Street South in St. Cloud, MN, as well as a 115,000 sq.ft. store situated on 10 acres near Chicago Avenue in South Milwaukee, WI; a 38,000 sq.ft. Walmart Neighborhood Market in part of a former Jewel-Osco along North 124th Street in Wauwatosa, WI, and a 140,000 sq.ft. store on 17.2 acres along South 108th Street in Greenfield, WI. The company currently operates more than 9,000 locations nationwide and internationally throughout 15 countries. Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. (757-321-5000) plans to open a Dollar Tree store in part of a 43,780 sq.ft. former Kroger located within River Landing Shopping Center, a 54,000 sq.ft. center under redevelopment along Ramsey Street in New Bern, NC. Shoe Show and It’s Fashion Metro will occupy the remainder of the Kroger space. The redevelopment is slated for completion during January, with the new tenants expected to open during March, joining Jackson Hewitt, Center State Beauty Salon, Lucky’s Irish Pub and Healthwise Natural Foods at the center. The company currently operates more than 4,100 locations nationwide. Crumbs Holdings, LLC (877-278-6270) plans to open between 16 and 18 Crumbs Bake Shop locations nationwide by year’s end, up from a previously-estimated 14 to 16 stores, as part of a plan to operate 200 stores nationwide by the end of 2014. The company currently operates 35 locations, offering cupcakes and other baked goods, nationwide. Robb & Stucky (866-460-9946) is scouting potential furniture store locations throughout southwestern FL and along the western coast of the U.S. The company was recently reacquired following a bankruptcy earlier this year. Bill the Butcher, Inc. (800-781-3677) plans to open eight Bill the Butcher stores by March of next year. The company currently operates 1,013 Ross Dress for Less stores nationwide throughout 27 states and in Guam. AFC Enterprises, Inc. (404-459-4450) plans to open five Popeye’s restaurants throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties in FL during the coming several years. The company currently operates one location each in the two counties, and has opened 23 locations nationwide this year. Flip Flop Shops, Inc. (770-424-0027) plans to open 30 Flip Flop Shops this year, as part of a plan to operate 236 stores nationwide and internationally by 2013. The company currently operates 45 stores nationwide. Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. (724-273-3400) will open a 44,166 sq.ft. Dick’s Sporting Goods store at Esplanade Shopping Center, located at the intersection of Oxnard Boulevard and U.S. Highway 101 in Oxnard, CA. The store will be the company’s 19th in the state and will join Home Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, Nordstrom Rack and T.J. Maxx at the center.
