WHO’S OPENING AND WHERE Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-477-4455) is planning to open a 40,000 sq.ft., two-level Whole Foods Market on the ground level of a 16-story residential complex located at the intersection of First Hill and Capitol Hill at Broadway and Madison in Seattle, WA during late 2017. The grocery store will be located near Seattle University. The company is also planning to open Whole Foods Market locations throughout western Canada, including a 40,000 sq.ft. supermarket along Blanshard Street in Saanich, Victoria in British Columbia during fall 2016 and a 42,000 sq.ft. store at South Park Centre, located along Calgary Trail Southwest in Edmonton, Alberta during summer 2017. The chain, offering organic and natural food items, currently operates more than 406 specialty supermarkets nationwide and in Canada and the United Kingdom and also operates under a spa concept trading as Milk + Honey Spa. Primark Stores Limited based in the UK, is planning to open a Primark store at the site of a former Sears at Staten Island Mall in Staten Island, NY during 2016. The fashion chain is also opening stores in Danbury, CT and Freehold, NJ.

Smoothie King Franchises, Inc. (214302-5910) is planning to operate 1,100 Smoothie King units nationwide by 2017. The company, offering smoothies, energy bars, snack items and vitamin supplements, currently operates more than 700 locations worldwide. Focus Brands, Inc.
