happy april - let’s save some money! by: Amy Addams

“Once you are high on marijuana, stop smoking it. You won’t get any higher. And you are wasting pot.” ~Gallagher It’s been a rocky 12 months, but there are some things that will never change, say it with me: death and taxes. We can’t extend your life, but we can extend your dollars. And one huge money saver comes in the form of less being more – Microdosing. What is it? The new and improved dosing method

What is microdosing exactly and who can benefit?

We covered this before, but there is so much more data to support microdosing as the best way to handle your medical care. Recent data shows that you do not need nearly as much THC as you might think, and if you are looking to save your money while keeping yourself from the overdo effects of ‘Green-Outs’ (paranoia, shaking, sweating, freaking out), you should give microdosing a try. It is an easy and effective method to address your medical care without losing yourself to couch lock.

Using a microdose (MD) of MMJ is easy to do. Any dose under 10mg of THC is considered a MD. If you are new to this strange new world with all the technology and terms, grabbing a package of low dose edibles are the way to go. A dose as low as 1-5mg THC is a true MD and can be a huge help for any user; especially for headaches, depression, and pain. Microdosing has been a proven game changer for PTSD and anxiety too. Because Oklahoma has legalized MMJ, Oklahoman Veterans can legally use it to manage all sorts of issues,

despite Federal legalization taking forever (a VA doc cannot authorize your MMJ card, FYI). What are the benefits? There are multiple benefits to MD: less risk of couch lock, saves money, saves MMJ, allows you to go on with your day… the benefit list is endless. New users are less likely to suffer from paranoia and lack of energy. It also can curb munchies. How do we microdose safely (and easily)? First, find a dispensary where you feel like the budtenders are

interested in helping you. Be sure to tell the budtender that you are interested in MD and give them a list of reasons you are doing this as well as the issues you want to address. The best starter? Edibles. Smoking flower and vaping are harder to dose. THC-infused honey, gummies, chocolates are all easier to control. Many edibles come in 10mg and 25mg individual doses. You can break them into smaller doses to lower the amount of THC you take in. Do NOT eat the entire package or even an entire dose. THEN, you need to give it time to work; effects can take up to two hours to kick in. Your goal is to stick to a max dose of 5mg. A 1mg2.5mg dose is best. Who benefits from microdosing? Anyone who suffers from cancer, ALS, muscle spasms, epilepsy, Opioid Use Disorder, chronic pain, glaucoma, PTSD, HIV/AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, epilepsy, or depression can reap huge benefits from MD. You will need to find the right product for you. continued on page 8
