Cadet D’Angio’s favourite part about the training so far has been participating in sports training, such as playing team sports like volleyball, and making new friends. by Judi Parker Creemore community groups had their first look at the preliminary design for the Creemore Village Green on August 1 at Station on the Green. The lead designers, Jennifer Nagai and Madoc Hill, from PFS Studios, described their thinking process, stressing the importance of local history and community needs in the preliminary design of the reimagined space. Sixteen representatives of Creemore community groups including the BIA, Farmers’ Market, Station on the Green, Creemore Horticultural Society, Creemore Legion, Log Cabin and Jail, Purple Hills Arts and History Society, Councillor Thom Paterson, and the Village Green Build Team attended the meeting. Consensus was that the majority of community wishes were well-represented in the design. Everyone in attendance had the opportunity to provide feedback on the design and many offered constructive comments for future design iterations. All community members are invited to attend when PFS designers present two versions of drawings for the Village Green, both reflecting the input from community groups, at a public meeting on Saturday, Aug.10 at 4:00 p.m. at Station on the Green. The Creemore Community Foundation is hosting this meeting to ensure that the public has an opportunity to view the designs and comment on them. Community members who are unable to attend the August 10 meeting will be able to view the designs at www.creemorevillagegreen.com beginning August 11 To ensure all members of the public have an opportunity to comment, the foundation is offering two ways to submit feedback. Comments may be emailed to sass.dempsey@gmail.com or by placing comments in collection boxes at several locations around the (See “Community” on page 5)
