Dr. Gazi Shares His Experience As A Urologist How did you become involved in the field of urology?
I always knew that I wanted to be a surgeon. During medical school I chose a variety of elective surgical rotations. I took a liking to urologic surgery and found that I excelled in the field. After completing medical school at the University of Miami, I went on to complete my residency training in Urology at UMDNJ RWJ Medical School in 2001. I have been in private practice in urology ever since.
What is the most rewarding part about your profession?
I find patient care to be the most rewarding part of medicine. In my practice, we treat patients with multiple conditions that affect their daily lives. In many cases we are able to offer solutions that ultimately give the patients a better quality of life.
What sets your practice apart from others like it?
In our practice we cover all facets of urology. We treat both and male and female urological issues and pediatric and adult urology. We also offer minimally invasive surgical treatment options for many urological conditions.
What are the most common issues you see in your profession?
As a urologist, our most common complaints stem from urinary issues. Having said that, we treat everything from urinary incontinence to urologic cancers.
How did it feel to win the award of “Top Doc”?
The unique aspect of NJ Monthly’s Top Doc award is the nomination and voting process. Voting is limited to licensed physicians, and the fact that my fellow physicians are confident in my abilities is truly an honor.
Can you explain how your expansion into Toms River will improve services at your office?
The most important factor in our expansion is the addition of Dr. Mahmood to the UUANJ family.
