Let history & tradition inspire your next conference The Queen entered the record books on 9th September 2015 as Britain’s longest-reigning monarch after surpassing the reign of her great great grandmother, Queen Victoria, who became queen at the age of 18 and ruled for 63 years, seven months and two days. The two monarchs have more than longevity and genes uniting them; there’s tradition too and as November approaches, there’s one night we all remember - the 5th November!

The State Opening of Parliament is an elaborate ceremony showcasing British history, culture and contemporary politics. Originating from necessity in the 14th century, the event signals the beginning of a new parliament and includes a King’s or Queen’s Speech.

Today, purely as part of the spectacle, The Yeomen of the Guard perform a Search of the Cellars at the Palace of Westminster before the Opening can begin. This tradition dates back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 when Guy Fawkes planned to blow up the House of Lords during the State Opening and assassinate King James I. Fawkes was thrown into the Tower of London, where he was tortured before being hung, drawn and quartered.

Step 3: Dealing with your Enquiry

Our Findmeaconference agent will then email you with a proposal for your consideration.

Within 3 days of your enquiry, if we have not already heard from you, a Findmeaconference agent will contact you to gather your feedback and ensure we have met your requirements.
