Berlin based Korean artist Hea Min Jung creates an absorbing and extraordinary immersive performance, weaving a shifting environment of movement, sculpture, and sound.
Jung liberates the audience from the conventions of a sit-down performance, encouraging them to engage with her art as they wish within one of the most atmospheric buildings in London. Each night is different as she responds to the energies, actions and flow of the audience.
Using latex sculptures, elastic lines, Shamanic bells and layered sound, Jung is inspired by the playful rubber-band games of her childhood and early experiences of loss. Her elegant choreography and deep connection with the audience transforms simple gestures into a journey through childhood to maturity.
“What might have seemed eerie or strange in other contexts was executed with such precision that it transcended any discomfort, becoming utterly impressive and beautiful ”
Created in collaboration with sound artist James Whipple (M.E.S.H.) and visual artist Nagi Gianni, code of engagement unfolds as a living ritual: intimate, unsettling, and profoundly human.

Hea Min Jung is a Berlin-based Korean dancer and choreographer whose practice delves into the physical and psychological thresholds of human experience. Born in Seoul, she began dancing at the age of five and later trained in classical ballet, Korean traditional dance, and contemporary dance at The Korean National University of Arts.
Her work often emerges from the body’s fragility and its transformative potential In her acclaimed solo frozen shoulder, Jung develops a new movement vocabulary from her own permanent shoulder injury, reframing limitation as a site of invention and human connection. Her most recent project, code of engagement, extends this inquiry into a multidisciplinary installation and performance, weaving together Korean shamanic ritual, personal memory, and philosophical transhumanism to interrogate the entangled relationships between bodies, materials, and environments
Since founding the Jung Hea Min Dance Company in 2015, she has developed choreographic works alongside a career as a performer across Europe, collaborating with leading companies including Constanza Macras/DorkyPark (DE), Sine Qua Non-Art (FR), Ritmi Sotterranei (IT), 12H Dance (DE), Theater der Künste Zürich (CH), and Sadler’s Wells (UK). Her solo works have been presented internationally at venues and festivals such as Hošek Contemporary and Uferstudios (DE), MOTHER OFFLINE (KR), Quinzena de Dança de Almada (PT), Tanz im August (DE), Futuro Festival Roma (IT), and the Korea World Dance Stars Festival (KR). In 2025, she will tour the UK with code of engagement, premiering at the Coronet Theatre in London
Jung’s work has been widely recognised with awards including Jury and Audience Prize for Best Solo at SoloDuo Tanzfestival Cologne (2023), the Dance Vision Award Korea (2016), and the Seoul International Choreography Festival Award (2015).
Her artistic journey continues to question how the imperfect body can serve as both a limit and a generative force: a space where vulnerability becomes a language of connection, transformation, and possibility
