THE WOLFRETON WAY
Curriculum
At Wolfreton, our curriculum is both ambitious and inclusive, designed to build knowledge, skills and independence over time.
Guided by our ethos to “Ignite Fires and Expand Horizons,” our subject specialists inspire students to discover their passions and interests.
From Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4, our curriculum ensures students gain strong foundations in English and maths—essential subjects for future success. We also value every discipline, offering a broad curriculum in Key Stage 3 that includes the sciences, languages, humanities, arts, design technology, computing, PE and PSHE.
As students move into Key Stage 4, alongside their core subjects, they can choose from tailored options that reflect their developing interests. Our Guided Choices programme helps them make informed decisions, linking courses to future career paths.
Students progressing into our Sixth Form go on to select from the wide range of A Level and Vocational courses The Consortium Sixth Form College offers. These enable them to specialise and prepare for their next steps, whether university, higher level apprenticeships or employment.
We teach a knowledge-rich curriculum that deepens understanding and builds confidence year on year. Through expert teaching, regular practice and revisiting key concepts, we create a challenging yet supportive environment that motivates all students to thrive.
At Key Stage 3, students study:

Pastoral Care
Wolfreton prides itself on providing excellent pastoral care.
Our team is enviable both in experience and scale, and committed to ensuring students feel happy and safe – that they are known and that they belong in our community.
Each child joins a Tutor Group led by their Form Tutor - the person that knows them best. Wherever possible, Tutors stay with their group on their journey through school. Tutors and year groups are led by our Heads of Year and Pastoral Managers who focus on students' welfare and progress to secure the best for each child.
Wolfreton has a dedicated Year 7 Team. The Head of Year and Pastoral Manager for Year 7 provide expert support during the transition process, welcoming students and supporting them to settle in and truly enjoy their first year. They build a year group culture of high standards, trust and great fun. Upon graduating from Year 7, students join their new Head of Year and Pastoral Manager who take over their care for the coming years. Staff are expert in the needs of their year group, building new bonds to add to existing ones.
A much Wider Pastoral Team provides enhanced support where needed. This team includes our Safeguarding and Attendance Managers, a Behaviour Support teacher, our ELSA and Thrive Practitioner. Early help support, including social, emotional and mental health support is provided in one of our intentionally designed support bases. There is always someone there to celebrate the best in our students and someone to turn to if there’s a problem.

The Wolfreton Experience
At Wolfreton, education goes far beyond the classroom.
Our Wolfreton Experience programme ensures every student can access a wide range of enrichment activities that build confidence, spark joy and strengthen their sense of belonging within our community.
Entitlement Opportunities
From lifesaving skills in Year 7’s Restart a Heart event, to the thought-provoking Prison Me No Way Day in Year 9, our entitlement experiences enrich every stage of school life. Students enjoy themed days, inspiring speakers, cultural workshops, and competitive House events that promote teamwork and inclusion.
Clubs and Extracurricular Activities
Our extracurricular offer is outstanding, with something to suit every interest. Students can join clubs for coding, debating, chess, board games, Lego, or even Dungeons & Dragons. Creative and Performing Arts thrive at Wolfreton, with opportunities in art, drama, dance and music and our ever-popular annual production

Sporting Success
Sport is part of our DNA. With daily clubs, regular fixtures and teams in football, netball, rugby, basketball, athletics, cricket and more, students of all abilities find their place. Many go on to achieve success at local, regional and national level.
Trips and Visits
We believe trips and visits bring learning to life. Every student is invited to take part in our core programme, which in recent years has included visits to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, the National Space Centre, Lincoln Castle, Dalby Forest and the National Holocaust Museum
For those who want to go further, our elective trips offer even more — from theatre visits and city experiences in Liverpool and London, to international adventures such as Barcelona, skiing in Italy, and our exciting upcoming expedition to Peru in 2026.

House System
Our House System is an important part of The Wolfreton Experience.
Each of our Houses are named after philanthropists –people who were dedicated to improving the life of others, and in doing so, embodying ‘The Wolfreton Way’ of Excellence, Endeavour and Respect
Heads of House lead our students in an array of both competitive and collaborative opportunities, and in community and charity initiatives; always finding time to champion success. This focus provides innumerable opportunities to build a sense of team and belonging, and importantly to us all, the time to have some fun.
We are a competitive school that also teaches the importance of collaboration and teamwork. Our Rewards
System sees students collect House Points each day through their tutor and classroom activities. Entries in individual and team competitions all gain House Points and the competition is real. Many competitions have become school traditions, including the Christmas Stocking competition, the Wolfreton Bake Off and, of course, Sports Day, always celebrating success
Our Houses play a major role in developing an understanding of the importance of community. Each year students deliver Easter and Christmas cards, groups have performed in a local care home and at community Christmas lights event. Through charity initiatives, Houses raise money for charities of their choice.
At the end of each year, the House Cup is awarded. With ambition high, attention turns almost immediately to the coming year.

The Climate to Succeed
High Standards, Warm Atmosphere
At Wolfreton, every student is valued, respected and supported to achieve their best. High expectations for attendance, behaviour, and uniform create a calm, purposeful environment. Through The Wolfreton Way — our behaviour and values curriculum — students embrace responsibility and rise to our standards. Visitors regularly comment on the warmth and positive relationships that make Wolfreton unique.
Success Worth Celebrating
Achievement is recognised in many ways. House Points, certificates, badges, postcards, phone calls home, and celebration assemblies all shine a spotlight on success. Our Golden Ticket events — from colour runs to inflatables — are unforgettable highlights that reward effort and commitment.
Student Voice at the Heart
Students help shape life at Wolfreton. From chilled water stations to outdoor games, their ideas have influenced our environment and rewards. Form Reps and Year Councils feed directly into leadership, while Wolfreton students also represent us at our Trust Learner Conference, tackling big themes like diversity, sustainability, and aspiration.
Strong Partnerships with Families
We believe students succeed best when school and home work together. Families are kept informed through newsletters, letters, and Instagram, while our Parent Services Administrator and Pastoral Managers provide dedicated support. We work to celebrate successes, and aim to address concerns quickly, building the strongest foundations for every child’s future.

We have an excellent Learning Support Team who provide student-centred support to those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Both our Director of Inclusion and Deputy Director of Inclusion are trained SENDCOs. They lead our experienced team of Teaching Assistants, ELSA and Thrive Practitioner in providing support to our most vulnerable students, alongside our pastoral team and teaching staff. Our Achievement Centre has been carefully developed to provide access to additional learning, social, emotional and sensory spaces where needed.
We support students with SEND to make progress across the curriculum and to engage in all aspects of school life.
Students typically learn alongside their peers, with staff supporting and scaffolding learning to meet needs. Our Year 7 nurture provision and focussed groups in core subjects, provide enhanced support where it is agreed this would be most beneficial. Beyond the classroom, The Wolfreton Experience programme is inclusive of all, with students with SEND engaging across the range of clubs and activities.
Students have been part of teams celebrating success in both the Active Travel Ambassadors Scheme and Panathlon competitions, to give but two examples.
We enable effective inclusion by regularly engaging in training, to ensure SEND needs and strategies that support learning are understood and can be implemented. We value partnership work with our parents and, with them, work closely with our professional partners to provide the best support we can for our students.

Careers Education at Our School
At our school, we take great pride in preparing every student for life beyond the classroom.
Our careers education is long established, highly regarded and designed to open doors to exciting futures.
From Year 7, students follow a rich programme created by our experienced Careers Leader, giving them the knowledge and confidence to explore their ambitions. Our dedicated Careers Advisor offers personalised guidance to students in Year 11 and the Sixth Form, with as many appointments as needed to ensure each young person finds the pathway that is right for them. Our central Careers Hub means advice and inspiration are always within easy reach for all year groups.
We work closely with employers to bring the world of work into school. Students benefit from employer talks, careers events, and our Year 11 Mock Interview Day, while Year 10 and Year 12 students all complete a week of work experience. These opportunities, alongside lessons and tutor time, help students understand the exciting possibilities in the local labour market and beyond.
In the Sixth Form, we provide specialist support for students aspiring to top universities, including Oxbridge, as well as degree-specific guidance for courses such as medicine and teaching. We also ensure that every student is fully informed about the wide range of alternatives available, from apprenticeships to employer-led training.
Successful Destinations
Our careers provision plays a vital role in helping students progress confidently onto the next stage of their lives. Many continue into our Sixth Form before moving on to the university of their choice, while others secure prestigious apprenticeships or professional training. Whatever their pathway, we are proud of the successes our students achieve — and of the strong foundations we help them to build for their futures.
Igniting Futures, Together
The Consortium Sixth Form College delivers post-16 provision, with a focus on providing high quality teaching and individual support to secure the best achievement and outcomes for all.
Our Sixth Form vision is Igniting Futures, Together and our shared values of Ambition, Collaboration and Excellence form the basis of everything we do.
At our Wolfreton Campus, the Sixth Form is based on the top floor in our fantastic building and Sixth Form students have their own facilities. This includes specialised teaching seminar rooms,
independent learning facilities and a refectory. Our teachers are experts in their fields and many of our staff are examiners for exam boards and verifiers for vocational qualifications. This level of experience across all departments ensures that students receive the highest quality teaching from staff who have in depth knowledge of, and passion for, their subject.
Alongside academic study, we offer a comprehensive enrichment programme of clubs, trips and events, as well as personalised UCAS and careers support, and dedicated pastoral care. With many of our students continuing their journey with us, they, as well as those who join us, benefit from the confidence, care and commitment long-standing relationships provide.
