The Consortium Sixth Form College is part of The Consortium Academy Trust.

As a Trust we are ambitious about the future, creating learning environments and excellence in teaching and learning that provide our learners with the best chance at a successful future. The strength of our Trust is in working together for the sole benefit of our young people.

Our highly skilled sixth form teams work collaboratively, by sharing resources and expertise, to ensure learners across all of our campuses experience inclusive learning opportunities alongside a challenging, fun and aspirant education. As a team, in partnership with parents, carers and other key stakeholders, we are ambitious to shape positive futures, so each young person is able to excel and achieve their goals.

Welcome to Sixth Form

The Consortium Sixth Form College works together across two campuses at Hessle and Wolfreton to provide a vibrant and successful community, supporting students in achieving their ambitions.

As Heads of Sixth Form, we have been fortunate to work with a large number of amazing students over the years, and it has been a pleasure to have played a role in their educational journey. Our Sixth Form College has a strong history of enabling its students to achieve excellent outcomes, allowing them to progress onto highly successful careers.

Studying with us provides you with the opportunity of achieving the best possible grades. We offer A Level and vocational course options,

covering a wide range of subject areas to meet your individual needs. Our courses are taught by qualified subject specialist teachers with a wide range of backgrounds and expert knowledge in their field.

Our students receive excellent pastoral care and support from our dedicated team of staff, and you can also gain additional skills through our programme of enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.

Choosing where to study after completing your GCSEs is an important decision. Throughout Year 11 you will have the opportunity to take part in events and activities to experience life in the Sixth Form and explore subjects of interest. We will also meet with you to provide advice and guidance regarding your options. This process starts with our Sixth Form Open Evenings and we look forward to seeing you there.

To apply for a place at The Consortium Sixth Form College, please complete the application form on our website –www.consortiumcollege.co.uk.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or equivalent, including English Language or Mathematics are required to study vocational subjects.

Requirements are higher for A Levels and subject specific grades apply for some subjects.

Entry criteria will be discussed in more detail during your Sixth Form interview.

Enrichment

Having a great set of academic qualifications is a very small part of what makes a person shine.

We offer a variety of enrichment opportunities in addition to your regular studies. From trips and visits, work experience, sport and volunteering there are so many options open to you. We also offer enrichment courses including the Extended Project Qualification, Emergency First Aid, Food Safety, British

Sign Language and Team Leading. For future medics, teachers, lawyers and apprenticeships we have specialist programmes tailored to meet your needs.

Our campuses also have a great social community. Our Sixth Form Student Council focuses on the sixth form expereince and plans events for everyone to take part in including charity fundraising events for various local and national charities. In addition to subject specific trips, this year we also have joint campus trips to New York, London and The Lakes.

Hessle

Our Hessle Campus is based in the historic Grade 2-listed Tranby House which has spectacular views over the school grounds and towards the Humber Bridge. The campus has ample study space and its own café for students.

Wolfreton

At our Wolfreton Campus, the Sixth Form is based on the top floor in our fantastic building and Sixth Form students have their own facilities. This includes specialised teaching seminar rooms, independent learning facilities and a refectory.

Positive Destinations

As well as links with Oxbridge and other top universities, we offer degree specific support for students applying for subjects such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary, law and teaching.

Careers advice is provided to ensure students are aware of the breadth of opportunities available to them. Each year our Sixth Form students leave us to go on to a variety of positive destinations including both university and apprenticeships. The majority of our students progress on to a place at their first choice university.

Hessle

Some success stories this year include Izzy who is at the University of Manchester studying Teaching, Alfie who is now at Nottingham University studying Computer Science and Harrison who is on a degree apprenticeship course in Chartered Management

Wolfreton

Some success stories this year include Ellie who is studying Environment and Business at the University of Leeds, Kian who is studying Fine Art at Leeds Art University and Beth who is on a Criminology course at Loughborough University

Student support and well-being

We will support you every step of the way and are dedicated to getting you to where you want to be.

Your Student Services Manager will help you settle in and will be a vital point of contact for advice and information.

We have experienced subject teachers and tutors who will support and guide you in your studies and with your applications to university or employment.

Your personal well-being will also be supported throughout your time with us. As part of The Consortium Academy Trust, each campus has access to a Trust Mental Health Support Worker who can provide one-to-one health and well-being support.

As a Year 12 student, you will be provided with your own laptop to facilitate your studies, both whilst you are with us in the sixth form and as you progress onto university or other positive destinations.

Transport

All sixth form students at Hessle and Wolfreton have access to free transport:

• service C1 provides transport between Hessle and Wolfreton campuses and additional routes in the local area

• Hessle campus service buses cover Anlaby Road, Boothferry Road, Hessle Road and surrounding areas

These services have a regular timetable during term-time providing you with an easy and straight forward commute to complete your studies.
