Introduction

People are at the heart of what we do.

We invest in our people through recruiting, developing and retaining great people who are truly committed to Shaping Positive Futures for all our learners. As a Trust, we are committed to fostering an environment where every colleague has the opportunity to enhance their skills, achieve their career goals, and contribute to our collective success.

Our aim is to equip you with the tools and knowledge you need to excel in your role and prepare for future opportunities. We believe that by investing in your development, we not only enhance your personal and professional growth but also strengthen our Trust as a whole.

...training and development...

Delivery Partners

We all learn in different ways, so we work with a broad and diverse range of partners to deliver our blended CPDL Core Offer. Some of our partners, for example Thrive, are new this year with others like Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training, long established. We use The National College online Platform for most of our mandatory e-learning.

New Starters

Getting off to a good start is important and therefore your induction is carefully crafted to cover statutory and Trust-based policy and practice; it also helps you to immerse yourself in the vision, values and culture of the Trust.

Annual Mandatory Training

Our mandatory training covers training and development to keep all of us up to date with key policies and procedures that support keeping our learners and colleagues healthy and safe within our learning and work environments.

Initial Teacher Training

We have a strong track record for working in partnership with local Initial Teacher Training providers through provision of high-quality teaching placements. Our strategic partner is Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training (YWTT), an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ provider. The Trust can also support potential candidates through a range of alternative routes into teaching.

Early Career Teacher

Induction

We recognise that teachers deserve high-quality support throughout their careers, particularly in those first years after training when the learning curve is steepest, and we are committed to ensuring the Early Career Framework (ECF) fits seamlessly into the support we give to teachers at all career stages. Our delivery partner for the Full Induction Programme (as well as for Appropriate Body Services) is Vantage Teaching School Hub who work in partnership with Teach First.

“Watching their confidence grow and their skills develop has been incredibly rewarding. The supportive community and comprehensive training ensure every trainee thrives, fostering a new generation of dedicated and passionate educators.’’ ...incredibly rewarding...

ITT Lead and ECT Induction Tutor NB - from September 2025, the DfE plans to replace the ITT CCF and the ECF with the ITT ECF.

Trust Annual CPDL Event

We place great value upon collaboration and collegiality and empower all our people to be their best selves. A prime example of where colleagues from across the Trust join forces to share best practice is at the Trust Annual CPDL Event which brings all colleagues together, on one site!

“It was a privilege and a delight to be given this opportunity to reflect and develop with colleagues across the Trust and a real reminder of what it means to be part of a large and supportive organisation. It is great that we are invested in as an individual, a school and a wider team.”

Each event has a unique theme, based around the Trust strategic priorities with our vision SHAPING POSITIVE FUTURES as the thread running through the activities.

The day starts with a welcome from our CEO, followed by an inspiring keynote. Colleagues attend a range of sessions, collaborating and sharing good practice.

...develop strategy...

School and Shared Services’ Training Days

In addition to the Trust wide CPDL event, there are built in or disaggregated training days throughout the year, with sessions aligned to school or shared service area priorities.

Professional Networks

Regular cross Trust networks are in place to share practice, review policy and develop strategy.

Networks include:

• Assessment

• Curriculum and Subject Leader Meetings

• Designated Safeguarding Leads

• Digital Technology and Innovation

• Early Career Teacher Network

• Headteacher Board

• Initial Teacher Training Leads

• Pastoral and Personal Development

• School Operations and Shared Services

• SENDCo Network

• Teaching and Learning

• Trust in Reading

• Wider Leadership Team

Peer Review Opportunities for Subject, Middle and Senior Leaders

As our Trust grows, so does our capacity to support and challenge one another. Developing the participation of curriculum leaders in the peer review processes, that form part of our internal monitoring and evaluation, has created an excellent opportunity for professional learning, providing curriculum leaders with the chance to discuss and share ideas from their practice and to learn from one another.

Performance and Development Review (PDR)

We are fully committed to our colleagues and their development and foster a culture of support, encouragement and respect within a positive and fulfilling working environment. The review process supports our colleagues to understand their role in achieving the vision and strategic priorities of the Trust; and more locally that of their school or shared service department. It provides an excellent opportunity for staff to discuss and agree with their line manager their professional development needs and any other support required to contribute to shaping positive futures for all our learners.

If you are applying for a course which involves a cost, or requires release time, please discuss this with your line manager.

Leading with Purpose Programme

We are excited to launch our Leading with Purpose Programme, which is open to all colleagues across the Trust.

Designed to align with our Trust values and strategic priorities, the Leading with Purpose Programme will provide colleagues with a chance to undertake a research-based project which will help to shape our organisation, whilst benefiting from the support of both a technical mentor and a leadership coach.
