Star running back keeps the touchdowns coming, just like father and grandfather By Lucy Weber Football runs in the family for Tameron Patterson. Like his father and his grandfather before him, Patterson loves the game and his talent lights up Friday nights under the lights. "Football means a lot to me and my family," said the Corinth High School star running back. "Everything I do on or off the field, I do to make my family proud." His father Roy White of Booneville appreciates Tameron's athleticism and prowess on the field and can readily quote his statistics 1,300 rushing yards and 21 TDs in 2017 and 1,814 yards
breaking the school's single season record and 23 TDs in 2018. White expects even more this season from his son. Both White and his father (Tameron's grandfather) Walter Leroy White also played for their high schools. "My dad was pretty good too," Roy White said. The elder White agreed. "I was as good as my grandson is now," said the Booneville resident, who also played running back. Back then, he attended Anderson High School, a small school where the players wore hand-me-down gold uniforms with purple numbers and shoes. "My senior year, we got all new uniforms and equipment, and then our jerseys were purple with gold numbers," he said. Those new uniforms were important to the team, he said. Through the years, Jones has shared a variety of music with his listeners in different shows. "I've played R&B, hip hop, easy listening, some blues, some the best of R&B, hip hop,

easy listening and some rock. That was when I first got started in '85-86. "My favorite is gospel music any time," said Jones, and that is to play for others and his own listening pleasure. "I love listening to gospel music." Jones, who went to school for radio/TV broadcasting, chooses the songs that his listeners will enjoy each week, sometimes with the help of his fans. "I do take requests, and I get a lot of requests on Sunday nights," he said. Gospel is a genre of music that appeals to all ages, and Jones said he makes sure to include songs that cover all the dif-
ferent styles of gospel, from mass choirs to oldtime quartets and new contemporary artists. "I mix my music for all different age brackets. I do more to reach young people. "Gospel music has changed a whole lot throughout my career. Now it's more upbeat," said Jones, who says his favorites include the Mississippi Mass Choir, the Chicago Mass Choir, Kirk Franklin and many, many more who sing the Lord's praises. He is always on the lookout for new songs to share with listeners on WWMR, "The Eagle." "If I Dj Jerome Jones
