The burgers made in the restaurant, including its famous Slugburgers, are always made fresh, never frozen, and are melt-in-your-mouth delicious, Hackmann said. "We always use fresh ground beef, never frozen," she added. "Everything is made fresh, each and every day. Risa also features her fresh, homemade pizzas, which are a big seller. She also does homemade desserts every Saturday. We have people who come from all over, including as far away as England, to eat our Slugburgers. The restaurant was established in the 1920s and started out as a cab stand, according to co-owner Sandra Hackmann. "It was originally owned by a couple from Iuka," Hackmann said. I call our restaurant the "Home of the Little Sluggers" because people come from all over to eat them." Hackmann and Risa Smith own the restaurant today, with Smith being the daily onsite manager. Hackmann said she found it very interesting that the restaurant has a legacy of female owners under its belt, with she and Smith being the latest. "Basically, the owners over the years have been women," she said. "From its Return Address: P.O. Box 1292 Corinth, MS
