Hallelujah for the outreach that will touch many lives air,” he said. “Then I heard a voice that said ‘I’ve got a pledge if the young man can sing another song.’” Brother Owens told Rowan he had a place as long as he wanted on Unity Broadcasting. He was on the air every week for 18 years sharing his voice in praise, and he also helped Owens start five more TV stations -- two in Tennessee, one in Arkansas and another in Fulton. Outside the broadcasting station, Rowan, along with Owens, traveled singing gospels, blue grass and country across the South in live performances. “Before Covid, I was doing 80-90 engagements a year.” With his singing career came Rowan’s ministry and the name was a natural fit. “Regardless of what I’m going through, I say Hallelujah, which means giving God the highest praise.” Rowan now offers his songs through a different on-air media, YouTube. He has his own YouTube Channel and has a recording studio in the new facility. Visitors will be able to catch the live show he will record for YouTube on Monday nights at 7 p.m. once the outreach opens in January. After opening, the ministry will hold church services every Sunday at 9 a.m. with different speakers and singers. The mission of the new facility is to serve the whole man, one life at a time, Rowan said. “When they come here, there’s no judgment at all. Regardless of where you’ve been, what you’re done, you’re still somebody.” Rowan said volunteers are always welcome to help their fellow man. “We want our volunteers to get a sense of what the Bible asked us – ‘Are we our brothers’ keeper? The answer is yes. If you don’t love your neighbor, you don’t love God.” After the grand opening, Rowan said there will be a full calendar of classes and activities for people of all ages and all circumstances. “By this time next year, you’ll see us fulfilling the needs of the city and surrounding area.”

By Lucy Weber A 30-year-old ministry has found a permanent home that will offer expanded services. Ricky Rowan started his outreach Hallelujah Anyhow with his mission to serve others after he began singing on local television 30 years ago. He is now preparing to open Hallelujah Anyhow Outreach in its first physical location, 601 N. Smith Street in Booneville. The location offers Rowan, now with a team of volunteers, the opportunity to feed senior citizens twice a week, provide a food pantry. Work with those dealing with substance abuse issues, tutor students and much more on the eight-acre site. The nonprofit is scheduled to open its door with a wide range of services in mid-January to those in the tri-county area. “It’s a miracle what God did,” Rowan said. “By the grace of God, we’re doing it. There is room to grow and expand. God is really blessing us.” The bigger outreach is a result of greater needs in the community, he said. “We needed a stable place to bring people in. We can do a better job than we have before. For 30 years I’ve done it by myself.” Rowan’s work began by happenstance. “As a young boy, I didn’t know I could sing until a local minister, Brother Leland Owens, came through, putting television antennas on houses. My mother let me ride with him to find someone’s house. He offered me work at Unity Broadcasting, doing odd jobs. “The first day he asked if I could sing. I opened a book and started singing.
