While the upside of immediacy and convenience is huge, we must not lose contact with the unique benefits public events have always provided – the power to remind us of who we are, where we came from, and what we can aspire to be, as individuals and as a group.

I constantly try to be a role model for the girls I coach.

Traditionally, nuclear plant operations has been a male-only industry, but I was able to break through that. I’ve been volunteering as a cheerleading coach for six years now. I know, because of my actions, the girls I coach will look back at me and say, “OK, look at what Michelle’s done. She’s been able to make this great career for herself and overcome adversity to get there.”

The Colonial Theatre Education & Outreach Through the activities of the Education and Outreach program, The Colonial Theatre seeks to provide an enriching, quality arts experience for everyone, regardless of age. The cornerstone of the Education and Outreach program is our student matinee series high quality performances covering a broad range of topics, attended by more than 8000 students each year. Complementing the matinee series are workshops, artist residencies and lecturedemonstrations conducted by professional performing artists, offering the opportunity for patrons of all ages to broaden their understanding and appreciation of the performing arts.

1793 -1800 Peleg Sprague, first Keene resident elected to Congress, built and lived in a house where The Colonial Theatre now stands

1800 -1835 Samuel Dinsmoor, New Hampshire Governor and Congressman, purchased and lived in the Sprague house until his death in 1835

1835 -1923 The Colonial Inn stands on the site of what will become The Colonial Theatre

1923 Construction of The Colonial Theatre begins

Historic Preservation Fee

A $2.50 Historic Preservation Fee is included in the price of each ticket. This fee helps fund the long-term maintenance, restoration and improvement of our historic theatre. The Colonial Theatre is listed on the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places.

Student Rush Tickets

A limited number of student rush tickets may become available two hours before curtain. For details or to purchase rush tickets, please inquire at the box office.

Latecomers will be seated according to the discretion of the house manager.

If an event is presented as scheduled, The Colonial Theatre is contractually obligated to pay the performers. Therefore, we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges.
