Digital solutions

The NSW Government is utilising digital technology to improve the renewal process for Working with Children Checks.

Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello said piloting the use of photo verification to offer a new convenient and secure online government service will give people the option to securely prove who they are online anywhere, anytime and will save customers valuable time.

There are more than 1.8 million customers in New South Wales who currently hold a Working with Children Check, which is required to be renewed every five years.

Until now, customers would need to go into a Service NSW Centre to verify who they are in order to renew it,” Mr Dominello said.

Having the choice to complete a digital photo verification, customers will now be able to complete their Working with Children Check renewal online instead of attending in person, which will save them on average about two hours per check.

Cobar Preschool’s Georgia Boland (at far right), has been nominated for this year’ s NSW Training Awards in the School-based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year category. Preschool director Kristi Martin (at left) said Georgia’s colleagues were not surprised by her nomination. “Georgia is an asset to the team. She has shown such passion and enthusiasm for the industry [Early Childhood Education and Care] and has been a joy to train and to work alongside. Georgia demonstrated her commitment to learning throughout her school-based traineeship and we are very lucky to have had her continue on as a Diploma Trainee this year,” Also pictured are preschoolers Nate Sullivan, Nikolaos Stylianos, Marley Prendergast and Violet McBride.
