Oranges win a thriller in extra time

Oranges are through to the 9-12 years Junior Touch grand final tomorrow afternoon after a thrilling win in extra time over SpongeBobs last week.
SpongeBobs had the upper hand earlier in the match and led 5-3 at the break.
A big second half effort by both sides saw the scores locked at 10-all at the fulltime whistle.
Harpa Martin, with her third try of the game scored in extra time, sealed the win for her Oranges side.
Oranges’ other try scorers were Thomas Knight (2), Mason King, London Hyland and Talas Burke.
SpongeBobs’ tries came from Ella Oborn (3), Alfie Toomey (2) and Indie Burke.
A classic win for Brien, Finn & Egan
Four teams took part in Saturday’s Three Ball Classic in the Men’s Golf competition.
The winners on the day were Peter Brien, Zac Finn and Jay Egan finishing with 80 stableford points.
Scott Mayne, Bian Smith and Rob Cummins finished in second place with 79 stableford points.
Nearest to the Pin prizes were won by Cummins in the 3rd hole, Egan on the 7th hole and Alec Fraser on the 15th.
The Nutrien Russell sponsored Stableford competition was played on Sunday with super vet Max Phillips, on 38 stableford points, finishing as the winner.
Also on 38 stableford points in second place on a countback was Peter ‘Ding’ Lawrence.
Garry Wilkin finished in third place with 37 stableford points.
Stewart Fraser was another shot further back on 36 stableford points.
Nearest to the Pin prizes were won by Rob Cummins on the 7th hole, Chris Powell on the 8th hole and Lawrence on the 15th hole.
Competitions for the next two weekends will be a Good Friday Par event; Saturday is a Stableford; Sunday’s game is a four ball Multiplier and an Individual Stableford will be played on Easter Monday.
The following weekend’s schedule is a Four -Ball-Worst-Ball game on Saturday and the second round of the Captain’s Trophy will be contested next Sunday. Three Aces
DJW Dingoes down
Oranges will meet Powerades in tomorrow’s final after Powerades had a big 23-6 victory last week in their semi final game against Redbacks.
Rhylee Jeffery led the scoring for Powerades with four tries, Taj Goonrey crossed three times, Jessica Rogers, George McDonald and Thomas Presig touched down twice with Judd Josephson, Zara Patterson and Sonny Stephens adding the extras.
In reply, Tommy George scored three tries for Redbacks with Taylah Wyllie crossing twice and Harlym Curtis also scored a try.
In the 13-16 years age division, the Gladiators and Raiders will meet in tomorrow’s final after they both won their semi final games last week.
Gladiators had an impressive 21-6 win over Mad Dogs. Maddie Bruce and Jaxon Burke, with four tries each, helped to steer Gladiators to their win. Rhylee Patterson also crossed three times, Kai McCosker scored a double and Jamal Eves also touched down for a try.
Mad Dogs’ points came from tries to Oisin McMullen (3), Ryder Anderson, Rowdy Barton and Ashton Dietrich.
After narrowly leading 5-4 at half time, the Raiders dominated the second half to finish with a 12-6 win over Yellow Bellies.
Raiders shared the try scoring around with six of their players scoring tries including Sosie Barton (2), Axel Fairfull (2), Hayden Seng (2), Eli Martin, Piper Neale and Will Oborn.
Yellow Bellies’ try scorers were Ethan McLeod (2), Tim Eves, Aiden Hyland and Bridgette Negfeldt.
DC & C Barracudas
DJW Dingoes will meet J&K Butchers in the Opens Touch A Grade grand final tomorrow night at Ward Oval.
The DJW Dingoes easily beat last year’s champions, DC & C Barracudas, 11-3, in Thursday’s final.
DJW Dingoes took control of the match from the outset and continued to build on their 4-1 half time advantage to finish with a comprehensive eight point win.
DJW Dingoes’ try scorers included Damon Bruce (2), Maddie Bruce, Haymish McLeod, Bridgette Negfeldt, Phoebe Pursehouse, Ted Smith and Zane Taylor.
In reply, Jayden Harvey crossed twice for DC & C Barracudas and Ashton Dietrich was their only other try scorer.
Haymans Snowflakes won their tight tussle with Rusty Snails, 9-7, to make their way to tomorrow night’s B Grade grand final where they will meet the Phat Athletes.
Haymans Snowflakes had a good 5-2 lead at half time in last week’s final before the Rusty Snails fought back and won the second half, 5-4.
Haymans Snowflakes however had already done enough in the first half of the match to finish with the narrow two point win.
Sosie Barton, with three tries, led the scoring for Haymans Snowflakes with Jimmy Neyland crossing twice and Josh Burke also scored a try.
In reply, Lisa Dormer scored twice for Rusty Snails and Kody Martin, Ben McBride and Nathan Prince each crossed for a try.
